DAS chat dropped immediately

Just waited on the chat hold line for almost three hours. My son, age 17, is going to WDW with a school trip. I wanted to get a DAS for him (he has used one his entire life). He has his own MDE account for the trip.

Chat finally picked up and said they were reviewing the case. Then IMMEDIATELY dropped the chat and said that an adult needs to contact them for the DAS. I am an adult and was sitting right there.

I'm honestly infuriated. Has anyone else run into this and how do you get around it? You have to come through their MDE account to get their DAS!

When the chat window first opens up, there is an automated message that asks who the DAS is for and the additional members of the party. In your end of the chat type in something like:
‘John Doe’ is the person registering for DAS. I am his mother, ‘Mary Doe’ and logged into his own My Disney Experience account to request DAS for him.

There may be more than one time it asks for the information; type a similar message in each time. I’m sure the CMs are not allowed to interact with minors, so if they don’t know whether it’s a minor, they probably end it automatically when the minors’ account info comes up.

You have to use an adult's account. No way for a CM to know that an adult is the one at the keyboard otherwise.
