Hi everyone,

I have an upcoming trip in June and my parents will joining me for the SWGE opening at Disneyland and a few days of Disneyland fun :)

They get in very late (11pm) the night before our 8am Galaxy’s Edge reservation and I’m wondering the the best/quickest way to get my dad his DAS before that reservation. Someone said I can go to an info booth instead of city hall and that may be quicker? I’m not sure if there is one close to the entrance of Galaxy’s Edge?

Thanks in advance for your help :)

Once they let gust into the park guest relation will open I would just stop in and ask for a DAS before your ADR you might be a minute or two lat but should not be that bad. You can also try the out side gust relation but they are some times too busy with ticket problem and or do not have the right iPad if all else fails your have to go back to the front to get the DAS after your ADR.

Oh just saw the dates I was thing of Disney world but looks like you are going to Disneyland but it should work the same ( I heard at Disneyland you can get hour DAS at the kiosk)

I didn’t realize I forgot to specify Disneyland, sorry about that. I fixed my post above so it says it’s Disneyland :) thanks for your help

Still, exactly what gap2368 said. You can try guest relations outside the park. Also see the first post (only) of the Disneyland DAS FAQ, pinned at the top of this forum.

Depending on his needs, DAS may or may not be appropriate solution, so may or may not be granted.

Guest Relations outside the park in Disneyland will not issue a DAS. Has to be inside.

There are DAS kiosks at the end of Main Street, near the wait times board; over by Haunted Mansion; in Fantasyland near Dumbo; in Tomorrowland across from Star Traders. The easiest one would be the one at the end of Main Street.

If you have a reserved time for SWGE (and congrats!! I'm not at all jealous) do you need to get his DAS before you go in? I'd imagine that since it is at the back of the park, and you have probably the first reservation in the morning, that you would be allowed in before official opening (like an early ADR).

They usually do rope drop before official opening, so you should be able to get to City Hall before the park opens. I don't know if your day is an early entry day or not, but if it is and you have early entry, again just use that and get the DAS.

When SWGE opens there will be only 1 ride which one could use a DAS time. I am sure the line for that ride will be long! If I were you, I would get to the turnstiles early so you are among the first to enter the park and go directly to the left side towards City Hall. I would most likely leave my parents there and go stand in line for SWGE (leave your ticket with them so it can be scanned). They can make their way towards SWGE after obtaining the DAS. If that isn't possible to get there early, I would try at the Haunted Mansion kiosk for a DAS pass. That way they are closer to where you are in line (assuming there will be one) One thing to keep in mind, Guest Relations usually gives a return time for the first ride. Make sure that your parents ask for that ride. Hopefully they will accommodate that.

I'm not sure she should leave her ticket with her parents. She may need to physically have it to enter SWGE.

I would not expect to get a first ride Return Time for the SWGE attractions when getting DAS.
Even now, nearly 2 years after opening, we’ve been told that the CMs at Guest Relations are not able to give a first DAS Return Time for the Pandora World of Avatar attractions.

I’m not sure if we’ll need it or not for SWGE, I’m trying to be prepared. Probably over prepared. He really wants to do the smuggler’s run ride, but he won’t be able to stand or sit in a line for longer than 15 to 20 minutes max.

The trip is a gift for him so I’m trying to make it as easy as possible on him. He’s still a bit overly proud about things like this so to even talk about DAS with him was difficult. But his doctor told him he needs it and gave him a bit of a talking to so he’s on board now. This is our first time doing Disney with my Dad needing assistance so it’s all very new to us. He’s had a really hard couple years dealing with everything so I just want this to go as smoothly as it can without him feeling like he’s ‘making extra trouble’ - his words.

.

often times when someone can not stand or sit for too long the CM see this a mobility problem and will suggest a wheelchair where you can sit and then stand and push it when need too. and if he needs to sit then having a wheelchair will be the only way to have a set when needed as with the crowds places to sit will be slim to none

Just a FYI for the first few months the lines for Smugglers Run will be 5-6 hours long. They are expecting record breaking crowds.

Just to be clear, the DAS is not issued for mobility-related issues. If you father's only issue is that he cannot physically stand in line for more than 10 minutes, the DAS will not likely be given. If he has other issues, in addition, then a DAS may be granted.
You say that he cannot wait standing or sitting for more than 15-20 minutes. It sounds like a wheelchair or rollator is a good fit for him. He can sit when needed, and if he needs to walk for a bit, he can push the chair/rollator in front of him.

Thank you, however his medical issues require the ability to walk in large spaces outside of line. When I say he cannot sit or stand for more than 15- 20 minutes maximum, it means even when alternating between sitting and standing, that is the very maximum before needing to walk. It’s the reason I’ve sent an email to Disney to make sure no ride times last longer than that and we’ve also asked some specific questions regarding other areas or rides that could be difficult. I’ve even had to book private transport from the airport that will accommodate rest stop so that he can walk and I’ve cleared his needs with the airline. We are considering a wheelchair anyway, he will not be able to sit in it for long, but then at least there will be a place to sit when he needs to do it. We have consulted his doctor (specialist) about it who actually told us to get DAS because he has had more than one patient utilize it with the same medical issue. He said he would happily write a note, however he told us that apparently they will not read the notes... which seems odd to me, but I’ll go with whatever we’re supposed to do.

I honestly didn’t really want to go into this much detail about his medical condition, nor will I go into further detail, simply because this has been quite hard on my family and it’s still upsetting for me. Crying in my car in the parkade is not a good look for me. I understand the requirements for DAS, it’s just the location and timing I’m requesting a little help with.

Your father's doctor is correct: at DLR, CMs will not look at a doctor's note for a DAS request, nor are they allowed to do so. They are not allowed to ask for a medical diagnosis, either. In response to a DAS request, the CMs can ask 2 questions: 1) What is the problem with waiting in lines? 2) How will having a DAS help with that? Based on the answer to those two questions, it is up to the CM to decide whether DAS is the best solution or whether something else will help more. CMs really do want to help, so let them work with you. SWGE is going to be new for everyone, guests and CMs alike, so be prepared to be patient. No one really knows what the DAS policy for MFSR will be -- I've asked different CMs, and no one has any answers yet.
At DLR, if the line looks short/if there is no line, City Hall or Chamber of Commerce are the most dependable locations for a first time DAS request. You can also request DAS at the Information Kiosks, but sometimes guests can be sent from there back to CH or COC. (This doesn't mean that there is anything wrong with you or with your request -- it could be something as simple as a WiFi problem.) So just be aware and prepared if this happens. I would hate for you to go all the way to the HM Kiosk, only to get sent back to City Hall. I hope everything on this trip works out for you and your family and that you all are able to make magical memories together.

OP, not to stir you up, but even with a DAS or FP, the FastPass line can be 15-20 minutes, then there will be the ride time itself...are you confident that your father can handle that?

Not trying to discourage you from asking for a DAS, just trying to make sure that you realize there could be situations where he isn’t able to walk in large spaces for more than 15-20 minutes.

While you are on, leave some space between you and the next party so your father can pace rather than standing still or sitting. Explain to the people behind you what is happening so they don't get upset when you don't move up. Have your father ask the doctor if there are exercises he can do while sitting in the wheelchair that will take the place of walking when that is not an option.

During Easter week, some of the attractions in MK were reporting 35 minute FP waits. Now, that is the busiest time of year and unusual, but something to be aware of.

I dont think they have even revealed what they plan on doing for Smugglers Run since there will be no fast pass (for now). Hopefully we get more details soon.
