Hi! I have never tried to rope drop with DAS before, but I think I might try this time since mornings are the best for me health-wise. For reference, I am staying on property. I know that I need to be scanned into a park to make a selection, but does the park need to be officially open, too? Or, should I be making my first selection after I scan in but before they let you into the rest of the park? Thank you. 🩷

If the attractions aren't running yet, there is no posted standby, and thus you cannot obtain a DAS return time. If arriving pre-park opening, it may be a few minutes after guests are allowed into the park before you find you can get a DAS return time.

Like others have said, you need the ride to show a wait time before you can request DAS. The last time we went, we found that usually the wait times start showing up a few min prior to the regular park open time. So just make sure to check in the app maybe 5ish min before to actual open time. Although, rides usually have a short wait times during rope drop too so it’s great to get some of those smaller rides out of the way.

Thank you! It seems so obvious that you'd need to wait for standby times to post, but I didn't feel confident in my assumption. Much appreciated.

If you have early magic hours, you can often get multiple rides in before the standby posts. In some cases, the standby will automatically start high (mine train) for those you’re better off either catching it at rope drop or DAS for later. If you DAS in the morning for those, you can often end up waiting longer. We usually skip it and DAS later as the morning can be a bit unpredictable sometimes as well.

My DD likes to rope drop. We find that the queues are manageable and therefore she will do a favorite ride and then later will do it again using DAS. She does better in the morning as well.

We might be considered over users because we also purchase Genie+. We rope drop, then start using DAS and Genie+ about 10am. We take a long break and I will stack a couple Genie+ rides and a DAS ride. Sometimes we make it back and sometimes we don’t and I will cancel what I have.
