We are heading to Disney at the end of January and I was wondering what we might expect for wait times at the Darth Vader and Chewbacca Meet and Greets? They meet separately, correct? Also, what are the hours for the Meet and Greets? Thanks!

We went the week of Christmas and both only had a 30 minute wait.

They meet seperately.

Waits have generally been in the 20-40 minute range for each (of course, your experience may vary)

If you have MDE on your smart phone, you can see what their wait times are at any given time (let me know if you don't know how to find character wait times)

They meet the same hours as the park is open.

Vader has a second M&G in the same building which is only for Disney Chase Visa Card holders. That line should generally be shorter than his main M&G line. It is only open something like 11--4 each day.

I'm not sure what your plans are, but when we were there between Christmas and New Years, we got a FP for Toy Story a little bit later on in the morning, and hit the Chewbacca & Darth Vader M&G's back to back just after Rope Drop while most of the masses where headed to ride Toy Story. We waited maybe 10-15 minutes for Chewbacca, and maybe 20-30 minutes tops for Darth Vader.

We were there right before Christmas and saw around a 20-40 minute wait time with Vader being around 10 minutes longer than Chewie. It fluctuated from 20-30 and 30-40 minutes for the 2 characters. Have fun!

I don't know how to check character wait times. Please let me know.

THANKS!

Sorry I didn't see this until now.

When you have the MDE app open, select a particular park. Then, across the top is a set of tabs (the first one is "attractions"). Scroll to the right and you'll see a tab for "Entertainment" and character wait times are on there. Just scroll through all the entertainment options to see them. There's also a tab for "Characters" but for whatever reason wait times are not listed there.

Do Darth and Chewie sign autographs or just take photos?

Darth Vader does not sign. Only one group at a time is allowed in with him. He walks around you and does a speech to you and interacts with you. It is pretty cool. We got there right when the park opened...first walked on TSM..then went over to see Darth Vader and had maybe a 10 min wait.

I've only met with Darth Vader, but they just took pictures. Signing autographs would be out of character for Darth Vader and the CMs seem pretty adament about him staying in character. He does interact with you which is fun.

he signed autographs during SWW so it's no about being out of character, more about moving the line faster and giving you time to interact. If he signed autographs there would be no time for him to interact with you

When my son asked the CM if Chewie could sign, he was told no, because Chewie keeps breaking the pens and getting frustrated :p

We were told that Vader only signs official Empire documents. Makes sense. Chewie made DH and i both put up our hoods because he thought we were Jedi.

Neither signs autographs. We were told Chewie doesn't sign because he doesn't want the Empire to know where he is. Darth signs for no one!

I think the Darth M&G area is the only other area at DW (besides HM of course) where the CMs are not allowed to smile or have friendly interaction with the guests. It was all business. Added to the atmosphere. Vader was so big and imposing and a tad intimidating (all in fun of course). Chewie was big, too, but he was more playful.

We met Darth Vader Christmas week- they were having a Disney Visa meet and greet and that was great- we literally walked in at lunch time and had one family ahead of us- less than 5 minute wait- however, you had to show your Disney Visa and it was one certain time of the day- like 11-3 or something similar. Not sure if this was only for a certain amount of time (as in weeks) or permanently- but I would check into it- the regular line was much longer.
Darth Vader and Chewie meet separately. I, personally, am not a fan of Star Wars- but my husband and son are obsessed. I had no idea that you aren't supposed to touch Darth Vader :scared1: So yeah, I went up and tried to hook my arm around his for a picture and he literally jumped back while the handler advised me that it 'isn't wise to touch lord Vader'......:rotfl2:
My DH and DS just shook their heads. Anyway- he forgave me and we got a picture anyway :teeth:

The meet was very good- he is very tall and interacts with you- kind of intimidating- even for adults- lol Well worth it!

Meeting Chewie was one of my favorite parts of our Christmas trip (very early December)! We went there at opening and were first in line. As we walked down to meet him all the cast members held up lightsabers for us to walk under, so fun. Chewie was very sweet LOVED him!! Darth Vader was definitely a little intimidating
