What do you do when . . .
I ordered a Pal Mickey from the Character Premiere Outlet in Orlando (because they are clearanced for $13.99) and had it shipped to my house. When I received it, it was really them because the store sent TWO. I only ordered one, I checked the receipt and my bank account, and I only paid for one.
Should I call the store and tell them the mistake and offer to send it back (at their expense, of course, I won't pay return shipping)? Do I do nothing and just keep it? The last time this happened was right after my wedding when Belk (or was it Macy's) sent me three extra place settings of my everyday dishes. I called that time (total value was close to $100.00, I felt compelled). The lady there said, no, you paid for six. Really, I told her, I didn't, and I would know, b/c I paid cash! Well, she said, you just got married, right? Yes. Then I'm sure you need them - just keep them. It was going to be too much trouble straightening the paperwork out.
So, I am going to be in Orlando in eight days. Do I call Character Premiere and tell about the mistake or not? :confused3 (My husband says I would be crazy to call.)

I would call, but they will probably just tell you to keep it anyways. I've had a similar experience (with a different vendor) and it was too much trouble to them to have us send it back.

Welcome to the DIS. You may receive some replys that will make you laugh, you may receive some replys that will make you angry, you may receive some that may make you want to cry.

I've had a similar experience twice.

Once, I received two backpacks instead of one. I called and they told me to keep the extra.

The other time, it was two umbrella strollers. They asked me to send the extra back (their expense) and I did.

Just call and see what they want you to do.

Yep, just call. More than likely they will tell you to keep it. Probably not worth it to them to pay for shipping on such a small item.

Legally if someone sends you something you didn't order, you are not obligated to pay for what ever that was. I remember that from the old public service announcements they used to have on and you could write to someplace in Pueblo, CO for more information.

Another vote for call and see what they say. They'll likely say keep it. :flower:

Myst

Whoosh! I called (to make myself feel better), and sure enough, they said to just keep it (and share with a friend, but actually, this means that BOTH kids will end up with one eventually now, instead of having to share.)
Thanks everyone - the outcome I would have expected, but I feel better now nonetheless.
Magical Pixie Dust! (How did they know I had two kids?) :wizard:

I would call. I got an extra set of power ranger pj's and called disney direct (not the same I know) and they said to keep them.

I have a low guilt threshold so It would drive me nuts.
