I asked my DH this morning if he needed anything new for our trip in September and if so would he like to go shopping for them this weekend. His reply: " One of the things I love about going on holiday with you is that my case magically packs itself with all the things I need in it. I have complete faith that this will happen in September."

He then left for work with me standing in our hall way with my mouth wide open.

Do any of you girl have DH's like this? Don't get me wrong he works really hard at work and at home. He is also fab with our DD, he just isn't into packing and planning!!!!!

I'm a DH, and that was a compliment your DH gave you. At the same time he let you know he doesn't want to go shopping this weekend. Well played akl-fan DH, well played.:lmao:

Sounds like my DH. He doesn't really enjoy our DVC trips but goes along to make me and DS happy. This last trip he didn't pack anything except the fishing gear he brought along. Plus, he has been known to forget important things. One year we went to our families lake house and he forgot to pack shirts. Good thing it was only for a weekend and we can do laundry there. LOL

That is a tag-worthy phrase: "My case MAGICALLY packs itself with all the things I need."

I am the DH and I have been known to forget items (shirts, belts, shoes, and once the traveller's checks) while on vacations (holiday to our friends and relations across the puddle) and have had to rearrange plans to buy the missing items, sometimes at great cost.

..... Uhm! perhaps you need to remind him that you're all out of pixie dust! :lmao: and that unless he wants to spend his entire vacation using the same pair of undies, he shouldn't bank on faith alone! Of course that's unless he wants to be totally clothed by Disney, Disney Pirate shirt, Disney t-shirt, Disney swimsuit for the whole of the vacation!

My 14 year old son packs his own suitcase and does a fine job, only once did he forget underpants! Now it's the 1st thing he packs!

That's so sweet! Also, it makes me realize that my DH DOES take part in our vacations. That is, at least he packs:rotfl2: Other than that, he never takes any part in any planning, where we're going to eat, etc. He probably couldn't even figure out how to call MS-and that's after almost 10 years of DVC ownership! Sometimes I get rather disturbed that he does so little.

Sounds to me like it was a wonderful compliment. He knows you are watching out for him and he has confidence you will continue to do so. My DH packs his own bags and then I give him a check list to check off and then I check his packing. He still forgets things. No big deal. My DH says we are the perfect match, I remember everything he forgets and vice versa.:lmao:

We have an Owner's Locker and I keep track of its contents.

It is super easy for us to pack. Maybe get an Owner's Locker, and make packing easier, especially if he isn't going to help.

I'm a DH that does all the planning except for the packing. Our very first trip together (1990) was to Minnesota we each packed our own cases. I did a good job packing (I think) but forgot my suitcase in my apartment. Ever since then my DW did the packing for both of us.

If you have a list of things to pack show it to him and ask him if he need to add anything to it.

Gotta agree totally with this post! :thumbsup2

Like you think this would really bother most guys? :confused3

:rotfl2:

:rolleyes1

Exactly the same here...I don't mind at all, I like doing the planning and he enjoys going along for the fun.

Another thought that came to me when I read your post from the male point of view. You want me to go shopping this weekend for items we might need for our upcoming trip in SEPTEMBER? Had my DW said this to me I would be humming Patsy Clines "Crazy" for the next hour.;)

My DH is the same.. but so much of the fun is planning the perfect trip.. so I don't mind one little bit.

does he complain if you don't pack/plan what he wants??
if not no worries, if he does then kick him in and butt and get him helping
and i am a husband but i like to be in "charge" so i know whats going on and as long as people who don't want to help don't complain after the fact i am fine with it

:rotfl: That was funny... What a great response!! I need to learn that one... :lmao: I am always the forgetful one.. Dh is the one that makes packing lists... :cool1: I love doing all the vacation planning but not so much the packing.. I always figure that there are always stores there I can shop at if I forget something.. :rotfl2:

That didn't work so well when we took a trip to West Africa where I forgot my feminine hygiene stuff and the closest store was 6 hours away!! :scared1::scared1:

Only one time I let my DH pack for himself and we were going to the beach and he didn't pack his swimsuit!! Last time.

I always pack for the both of us. He has to dine with me and if I want him to wear nice "matching" clothes, I pack them. I have no problem doing that and he has complete faith in me and my packing. Since we go to WDW about every 3 months, I don't even put the suitcases away. In our family, I plan, book, pay and pack. The only thing my DH does is ask when we're going, carry the suitcases, and drive the rental car. He has no opinion and goes with the flow! I use to ask him if there was anything he wanted to do or any place he wanted to dine other than our normal places and he can never think of anything other than our normal plans. We have a big desk calendar in our office and I mark our upcoming trips so he knows when they are coming up just in case I'm not around to tell him. I'm currently working on our next 4 trips and while I tell him constantly what's going on, he probably couldn't tell you when the next trip is if you asked. Of course you guys know more since it's in my signature!

OMG am I the only DH that does everything from planning, dining and even packing? DOH!!! My DW just follows along and has no idea what comes next nor cares....... lol

The way I see it, if DH isn't interested in packing his own stuff then he may or may not be subject to "family matching days". :scared1: :lmao:

I pack for everyone: me, DH, DD9, and DD2. I'm a list-maker, so it doesn't bother me too much although most of the time I am so concerned with making sure everyone else has enough stuff that I forget something for myself.

That may not be too big of a problem, though, because it always ends with a trip to a store to pick up something that was missed.

No, you're not the only one. I do it all as well. My DW just packs for herself. I take care of all arrangements and packing for our trips with our three kids. My DW is also happy to follow along. She knows that the one thing I can be completely trusted with is planning a Disney vacation.
