Hi - thanks to all the wonderful DISigners here. I have been busy preparing our T-shirts for our upcoming trip to Disneyland, customizing many of the blanks that I have found. My light transfers have come out great so far. But my dark transfers are sort of hit or miss. Some of them have come out great. But one in particular is giving me problems. It's a design with a large white background being placed on a dark blue shirt. When the transfer is ironed on, the transfer attaches correctly but the white background becomes a dark grey / blue color and it becomes very hard to make out details. From reading other threads, it appears that some people think that this is because the iron is too hot or it was ironed for too long? This is HP dark transfer paper and we're actually ironing for less time than recommended (since otherwise the parchment paper starts to discolor and ironing longer doesn't seem to make any difference) - the transfer is about 1/2 page big and we're doing the light pressure for about 45 seconds and the hard pressure for about 45 seconds. I'm wondering if we need to turn down our iron temperature (it's a Rowenta so it's a powerhouse of an iron) or just iron for even less? Any help or thoughts (or confirmation of my theory) would be appreciated before I waste any more shirts or transfers!
