Incredibly nasty weather working its way into the Boston area, right now. If you're about to get out on the road -- don't. Check the satellite and wait until it's over. They're talking about white-out conditions for practically a full hour, and a shocking drop in temperature, leaving loads of black ice on the roads.

I second that! It was torture getting home from work about 45 minutes ago - they even let us go early because of the weather. I saw two accidents and my fingers were nippy, even inside the car!

Be careful out there guys! If anyone can handle it, it's us tough New Englanders. :thumbsup2

One of the greatest pluses of being retired, is not having to commute or even venture out in bad weather!

I've been watching the reports, doesn't look good. Hope there aren't any accidents.

I heard. Thankfully i am home now, but DBF has a 45 drive from Boston to home.
Hope all the Masss drivers gets home safely tonight.

I'm in CT, right on the MA border. Tonight was my first night of one of my classes and they didn't close the school! My DBF and my mother both called and convinced me not to go anyway; DBF almost got into an accident on the way home from work, and my mother said traffic was barely at a crawl where she was. That was an hour ago...her drive home normally takes 30 minutes.

I've never missed a class. I wonder how many people showed up...I hope not many...

I'm glad that dh had his appointment in Whista (Worcester) this morning as we got home when it was just snowing a bit but not sticking to the roads. By the time the kids got home around 3:00 the roads were covered and it was slippery. It is just after 7 p.m. now and it is cold and snowy outside....

It was real bad here in the Hudson Valley today. My DH had an accident this morning on the NYS Thruway. He has a 2007 Saturn Ion - he did $5,768.00 in damage. He is afraid when the insurance co looks at it - they may total it. PLEASE DO NOT DRIVE IF YOU DON'T HAVE TOO!!!!!

I hope DH is ok.

my dh is driving back from PA right now. I am very worried about him out there and wish he had waited till morning, but he wants to get home. he shouldn't hit the snow squalls, but the ice that I'm betting will be on the road scares me to death. he left PA around 4pm, think he was near harrisburg when he left. trying not to freak out too much.

stay safe everyone! hope you have some hot cocoa ready for tomorrow. brrrrrrrr

It was pretty slipery inNYC this morning. If you are getting storm with a little colder weather and no sun it sounds nasty. Stay safe.

ArielSleepingBeauty - thank you for asking and yes thank god he is o.k. He can't be replaced but the car can. He was heading to Delaware for a Funeral for his Aunt this morning and had the accident just before 8 a.m. Needless to say he didn't make it very far - about 1 hour from home but took him 4 hours to come back. It was very slippery out. I made it into work. The schools couldn't make up their mind what they were doing. It was a very crazy morning. Two girls I work with each had accidents - one was hurt in her accident. Thank god she is o.k. also as she has two little ones at home - one is only 3 months old. I am glad he is home but I was kinda looking forward to having my bed all to myself for a night (he hogs the bed) - oh well!

I live in CT but worked in Worcester today (about 45 minutes from my home) and left work about 1pm. I slipped all the way to 290. Luckily the highway was a little better, but still scary! Hope everyone made it home safely.

My DH drove in white out conditions on Interstate 89 from Hanover, NH to Grantham, NH. He said that the only way he knew there was a car in front of him was when the person put on the brakes. Scary!

I am in Newport Rhode Island and went into class and it was sunny after some snow this morning.
Left class at 8:30 and there was ice everywhere. major drop in temperature. wind up to 50mph. they said it may drop below zero within hours!

Stay safe guys! I know we are expecting some decent winter weather here starting tomorrow afternoon. I'm going to go do a few things I was going to do this weekend and then head home and curl up with movies!

It's clear, and 11F. So black ice will be a problem on secondary streets this morning.

thanks for the headsup - i better call and check on my 17yr new driver
