They have a Mickey head outline on them which is where I think the chip is; you hold it up to whatever machine you are trying to use (payment, park entry, room door, etc.) and "tap" it lightly there to get it to be read/scanned. This is instead of sliding the magnetic strip on the back of a card. You just sort of "tap" the top of the band against the receiver part. Does that make sense?!

And by the way, there are no stupid questions.

BEAUTIFUL fall day here!! DH and I went out for a hike, explored a place we found out about almost a year ago but hadn't gotten to yet. It was a really, really cool hike. So good to get out there. I went yesterday by myself to another place nearby. It's a good reminder that we have so many of these areas right here in our own "back yard."

I've got to get out and run 8 miles here pretty soon, too..... The Half is next Sunday. Honestly I'll be glad when it's done. I enjoy running, but I've discovered I don't so much enjoy the long distances.

Nice you got out for a hike. That's what I was hoping to do on this gorgeous weekend, but that didn't work out. Yesterday from 2pm-7pm we were in my brother's woods getting wood for the winter. My back and sinuses were killing me. Back still sore today, but not as bad as last night. Today I helped unload the wood from the back of the truck and my husband stacked it. This week I will use my brother's 4-wheeler and haul out 4 more loads. That should be a joy loading and unloading the trailer full of wood by myself. If I didn't have lower back or sinus issues, it would be much better. I enjoy being in the woods, but I could do without the back pain and throbbing face.

Hello all! Had a great time at the Food and Wine Festival. The magic bands worked great. I do have to make some changes to my online account before I use them on my next trip because there were doubles of the girls and me which made the passes attach to one and the room to another. We were able to get everything attached, but it looks like the "me" they used wasn't the main account holder so I wasn't able to make changes while at the park from the My Disney Experience app. Overall, I do think the bands will make things go smoother, especially eating my way around the world kiosks. Just tap, enter your pin number, and go. For the room, it was tap and enter. For the parks, tap, use finger print and go.

I can see DH and I doing F&W someday. I'd love to experience it.

I'm curious, in any of your trips yet, have you noticed/heard people making comments about the Magic Bands? (as in maybe day-guests or others who don't know about them and/or can't get one yet). I'm wondering if it's going to create a rift -- like the "haves" and "have-nots" -- as they roll them out a little at a time.

It's much wider than I imagined and it does look like material that would be sweaty. There are plenty of people who would not appreciate a thick tan line. My daughter would be one of them. Maybe the pic makes it look bigger than it is. Oh and I want purple.
