boy! Just got back from 11 days at ASMusic and we had both the dancers and cheerleaders at the resort while we were there and had no problems at all. The dancers were a lot quieter when practicing, but all the girls were well-behaved. We had to spend quite a bit of time at the resort due to an ill child and never once was disturbed by excess noise or etc. The young ladies were very well behaved even when no adult supervision was present. It seemed as if the dancers liked the pool area better than the Cheerleaders. My only complaint was the dancers took up almost every chair around the guitar pool ( then even used one of our towels - LOL! ) - yes this comment on the chairs is sarcastic. The only thing it did do was make me feel REAL old, pushing 40 is not fun when you realize you could easily be the father of each of these girls and a few of their coaches as well!

We would definitely go back again at this time of the year with no fear. Disney did a great of putting the girls all in a few buildings, this kept the chance of rowdiness in a small area.

I was very impressed with the dedication the young ladies had pracicing for their event. I know it would be hard for me to concentrate on practicing and etc when there is so much to do and a lot more fun things than being in a parking lot going over my routine for 3-4 hours (YES, I saw a team do this one day - I hope they did well as then really were working hard to perfect their performance).

For any Dancers, Cheerleaders or people in their parties who read this - GREAT job on showing us that the youth in America gives us something to look forward to.

Thanks so much for your comments on the dancers & cheerleaders. I was there with the dancers 2 weekends ago and my daughter's squad was one of those that practiced EIGHT hours in the parking lot at the CBR on Friday and on Thursday and spend the entire day at WW performing and waiting to perform on Saturday. Although they had 4 day passes (which because of a 'special' package rate did expire after their trip), they only went to the parks on Sunday and we returned home on Monday. Their dedication to doing what they love is incredible, and they work on this sport (at least her squad does) the year round with a small break now in February. And it did pay off for them.......they won 2nd in the nation in the All-Star Hip Hop Varsity division and 4th in the Pom division! Thanks again for your comments!

I have to agree with jiminyfan. We were at the ASMu as well and were very worried when we heard about the dance competition based on other experiences with competitions, but at different times of the year. We were very surprised at the difference in these girls!!!!! How refreshing to experience polite young ladies who didn't have foul mouths, push to get into buses, or cut lines. We truely enjoyed our parents only weekend and were VERY impressed with the girls behavior!!!!! Heck, we even watched the awards on TV!!!! I have already made reservations for next year around the same time and at the same resort. All the girls should be commended...

We stayed at the AS's back in '96 & '97 with the cheerleaders. '96 wasn't so bad, '97 was horrible, to the point I'll never stay tehre again. I'm wondering if there weren't enough complaints to management that they layed down the law about practicing in courtyards starting at 5:00am and going until 1:00am.

Thanks for those positive comments on cheerleaders (for a change). I'm glad your stay was a pleasant one. My niece was at the CBR this weekend (coming home today) with her cheer team. For the most part they are very hard working, dedicated, good kids. And we should be glad they put their energies into cheering (or dance teams) as opposed to drugs or something.

We were at WDW this same time last year and although the teams were not at our resort we did encounter them in the parks but it in no way was a problem.

jiminyfan, you sound like a neat guy, great positive outlook on things. I hope your child recovered and was able to enjoy your vacation!
:D

We did not encounter any of the teams at resorts (we were at PO-R), but we did see all kinds of young ladies in the parks, and just to echo what has been said, they were typical teenagers. Excited, exuberant and "up". Never disrespectful, always well behaved, and really seemed to be enjoying the parks!!

Great Job to all of these youngsters, and their parents, coaches, chaperones, etc. Everyone did a great job!

We also were there over the dance team weekend and then the cheer teams weekend and I have to also echo the girls were pleasant and well behaved. They were not at our resort, but we encountered them in the parks on the weekend and we did not see any unruly behavior by any of them. I had read many stories on the boards about previous teams awful behavior in the parks and resorts, but I'm also happy to report we witnessed none of that.

Many seemed to travel as a whole team in the parks with their team shirts and backpacks and having a ball taking pictures with the Disney characters and riding the rides together. Way to go girls! :)

positive comment about the dance/cheer squads at WDW last week - they were very well-behaved young men and women!!!! I'll admit that we left MGM a little early on Saturday due to congestion of one side of the park with the teams, but it had nothing at all to do with behavior!!
