My girls 4 and 7 enjoyed the dancing game at Innovations. I think one was a Mickey game and the other Jungle Book. We do not have a game console (PS2 , Xbox, etc) What is the best one to purchase for young kids? I know nothing about video games so I need some help in figuring out what I need to get in order for them to play the dancing game at home. I'm thinking I'll need a DDR game, game console and two dance pads. Is this right? Which brand is the best to get and where do I find them? Thanks for your help!

We have PS2 and only 1 pad. The girls all take turns to see who does better. I'm not much on the games, I just buy what they tell me too. I know we have a cheap mat...there are some better ones out there...or so my kids tell me! Sorry I wasn't much help...I know there are more DDR folks on the boards.

We have PS2 (PS2 also has a DVD player in it so you can actually hook it to the TV and watch DVDs).

Right now, Toys-R-Us has the PS2 system for $149.95 and this week if you bring the coupon in (from the newspaper) you can get a $10 gift card for any purchase over $75.

We bought the DDR max (Dance Revolution) game at Best Buy (I can't remember what we paid)
and we bought the pads for $20 each at Walmart (we bought 2 of them).
I would recommend buying 2 of them so your kids can both play at once.

Is there a version of this game for Gamecube? The gamecube is a GREAT system for kids the ages of the OP's. I don't know if there is a DDR game for gamecube though.

I asked my DD13 to find out what she would suggest. She is really into DDR and has the PS2 system. She said she would suggest PS2 because she doesn't think you can get the Mickey Mouse game with X-Box, the only other system that at this time has a DDR game. She suggests the 1 in. thick foam dance pads unless you want to get the best which is a metal dance pad but costs around $200. We had to set ours up on carpet so we took an old piece of the carpet and taped the dance pad on the back side of the carpet piece. That way it doesn't move. Its great fun for the kids and is a great form of exercise for those that don't like sports plus it helps to teach rhythm.

Have fun!

Thanks for all the advice. I have heard that Gamecube has more appropriate games for younger children. I wish they made a DDR for that system. I guess we'll be looking at the PS2.
