Day 4 – December 24th, MagicKingdom

The cast:

Me (Karen) mad planner and disaholic

Pete, my husband, hates planning, goes along with what we happen to be doing

Andrew, best friend and Disney mad

Sue, best friend, married to Andrew, also Disney mad but doesn’t often admit it (although admits it more these days!)

Was wide awake again by 7am so I got dressed and decided to go for a walk to get the coffee and to take some pictures of the decorations around the Beach Club and the BCV. I think the BCV lobby has the most beautiful tree I have ever seen all decorated with red and gold.

Today we are going to the MK. We arrived there just after 9am and it was really quiet. We rode Splash Mountain with no wait (I got soaked as per usual!!) We were then going to ride BTMRR but is was not working so we went to Mickeys Philarmagic. I have never done this attraction before and I loved it. Donald was so perfect for that part! Then we decided to wonder around Frontier land for a while and we walked straight on to Haunted Mansion which I love. After this we noticed BTTMR was open and as there was a 10 minute wait we decided to ride. It was a lot more bumpy than what I had remembered but with 3 adults jammed into the car we were packed in like sardines in a can so we didn’t really move too much. Although I liked this ride I prefer the version at Disneyland Paris which is longer and is on it’s own island at the centre of the lake.

Then we decided we had done enough rides for a while and wondered over to Liberty Square to the Christmas shop. I have to say at this point, I love collecting Christmas decorations and love this shop. I could spend a fortune here and usually do!! After the shopping was over we noticed they were setting up for a parade. So we wondered up main street through the shops to get a spot for the parade where it ends. We got a great spot by the rope and got lots of great photos. After the parade we went for an ice cream and managed to get a table looking at the castle. The crowds were getting busier by now as it was 1:30pm so we decided to walk through the shops and get the bus back to the villa.

The weather was lovely and warm so we had a coffee and then decided to go for a dip in the quiet pool and the Jacuzzi. We went back to the room at around 5pm to change for dinner. We caught a taxi over to the Contemporary and arrived 20 minutes before our ADR. We were still seated straight away and had an amazing table looking straight at the castle in the MK. We decided to go for a look outside on the observation deck which was amazing. As it was Christmas eve we decided to treat ourselves and got a bottle of Opus One to share ($250!! for a bottle of wine!) The waiter Abdul was excellent and he took the label off for us and put it on a wine menu as a souvenir. At 9pm it was time for Wishes so we headed out to the deck. The music was piped in and we had the most amazing view of the fireworks which was a great way to spend Christmas eve. After our meal we decided to head down to the MK to catch the 2nd spectromagic parade at 10:30pm. It was such a beautiful evening and everyone was so happy, we must have looked a bit silly though, 4 adults hand in hand skipping down the Main Street!! Oh well, we were having a great time. We watched the parade from the front of the castle and I was able to get some great pictures. As soon as the parade finished we wondered through the shops and caught the bus back to the BCV. It had been a long day and I was exhausted so when we got back at 11:40pm I went straight to bed.
