I am being transferred to Dallas next month.

I opened my wedding dress bag to just check on it, and it had two little friends that had been keeping it company..... by eating it for lunch! Luckily it's just a tiny hole, but still I really need to take it somewhere to have it restored and altered. We would have had it preserved, but we were intending on using it in less then a year.
Ben and I have moved our wedding back to October due to scheduling issues with the family, so I have time to get this done. But I am nervous for Dallas is such a big city, and I don't want to just throw caution to the wind.

By now so much has happened wedding wise, that I am just laughing at everything that is still coming along. :lmao:

Oh my goodness! Well, if its just a tiny hole you could take it to a tailor. Many of them have a great deal of experience in making repairs such as that and usually for a low fee. I am so sorry that happend. Where exactly is the hole? Did you store it in a closet, attic, under a bed, etc? Also, was it just in a bag or did you wrap it in anything else?

The hole is inconveniently in center of the dress. We had wrapped it in a plastic bag, then placed inside a garmet bag, and then inside a closet in my old bedroom at my mom's house. The little critters were VERY tiny. I can see how they could sneak in there.

Is there any heavy beading, lace etc around that area?

Shoot...If there were a lot of beading they could just continue stiching down and add beads to conceal the hole. The only thing I can think they would do is take another piece of satin and sew it from the inside of the dress. How long have you had the dress? It may be possible to hunt down a swatch of the fabric for the seamstress to use without having to hack into another part of the dress.

Luckily we have a ton of fabric left over from the dress (my mom's best friend is a seamstress who made the dress). I am thinking of bringing up the hem to cover the hole and then having a top piece made from the extra fabric. If that makes sense!

Well then you've got nothing to worry about! ;) It can be fixed and if you've got the fabric you don't have to spend a fortune to track it down. Since it is your mom's friend I doubt she would charge a mint just to do some minor changes like that. Since she made the dress she would probably be the best person to fix it. Good luck, I'll send some good vibes your way :goodvibes hoping it will all work out

I got my dress at LuLu's Bridal shop in Dallas. Ruth is the seamstress there and she does a great job. The number is 214-871-9610. Hope that helps!
