Dairy AND Soy Free Desserts ?!

I just returned from a 12 night trip. Approximately 25 ADR's and some CS stops as well. Due to my nursing infant, I am dairy & soy allergic. Throughout the whole trip I found berries, berry sorbet, berry cobbler, berry this and berry that as a dessert option. Never anything else, so I am wondering if anyone can point me to a Dairy AND Soy free dessert at WDW? Heading back again in 2 months and will revisit some fave restaurants for food I found, but am sorely depressed about dessert.

Adding - yes I did find some Enjoy Life prepackaged cookies. That is not the sort of dessert I'm after lol. I wish they carried coconut milk ice cream products because their non dairy versions have soy in them!

They do have So Delicious there at some TS restaurants. I would email special diets for the dairy and soy lists and see what's on each. We have a much longer list and had several chefs make desserts for my kids and sometimes they did include Enjoy Life which was fine with them.

I'm always offered fruit as a dessert, which is so disappointing. I haven't had much luck with anything other than Enjoy Life cookies, fruit or sorbet at restaurants.

However, you can always head to Disney Springs and stock up on goodies for yourself at Erin McKenna's. My personal favorites are the French toastie cupcake, the coffee crunch donut and thin mint cookies.

Several resort food courts stock some Erin McKenna products as well. The allergy kiosk in AK has them, too.

I went with something like the Erin McKenna's treats when I was avoiding for my nurslings (prior brand but as I understand they are similar with the allergy free options). Rice Dream was offered at several locations, but I couldn't recall which ones at this point. But for the most part we were offered fruit as our option.

I was told that occasionally some places will have Coconut Milk ice cream, but have not yet had any luck in locating it. BoG said they had it sometimes but did not have it when we dined there.

That is my plan for our next trip, and I was even thinking about having a cake delivered one evening to one of our TS restaurants...BC marketplace had their plain donuts and they were okay, but hoping fresh cupcakes from the bakery will be tastier.

Yep I read about the Plaza ice cream parlor having dairy free sundaes and was SO excited, not evening thinking about soy - got there and I couldn't have anything they offered. If they carried coconut milk ice cream I'd have been in heaven!

Are you sure you/baby can't tolerate soy lecithin? I ask because most people with soy allergies are fine with it. It is a byproduct of refined soy oil. Many with soy allergies are fine with the oil as the concentration of protein is so low. Lecithin then has fewer proteins than that so it is commonly not a problem. If you don't know, it is worth looking into.
We've never run into coconut ice cream on property. I am in one group where a couple people keep saying they are convincing Disney chefs to stock it, but nobody in any other groups has found it or heard anything of the sort. Honestly the coconut is more allergenic among those who can't have the regular ice cream than the tofutti and rice dream are so it is sort of a strange direction to go in when considering what to stock. There have also been issues with that brand recently causing a lot of cross contamination reactions (soy among them) since the brand was purchased by a new owner.

Interesting to hear that about the coconut ice cream, I hope they fix the issues. At the time of the trip, DD was only 11 weeks old so we hadn't really played around with what she could/couldn't tolerate too much as she was doing so SO much better after I completely cut out all dairy and soy (with those in her diet she screamed non-stop for weeks...so I didn't want to go back to that). But you're right, I can have soy lecithin I *think* now. I actually have been meaning to look into the different types of soy and what I could possibly start trying to have.

So that being said, I would give the rice dream stuff a try on the next trip, especially if it means I could have a banana split!

I would HIGHLY recommend trying it BEFORE you go- the last thing you want is to find out on vacation!

Our last vacation was 2 years ago but we had a lot of luck- our DD's allergies don't include soy, but I did keep track of whether what we received had soy. My nephew has a soy allergy (not soy lecethin though) and I wanted to see what he could have on his next trip. If you find out you CAN have soy lethicin, here's what we had that you might enjoy-

All items were df & had soy lecithin but no other soy (were gf too)

-Dark chocolate Cinderella slipper with berries at 1900 PF, dairy free but does have soy lecithin
-Cupcake at Crystal Palace ordered through contemporary bakery
-Cupcakes & cake (topped with a dark chocolate mickey) at Gasparilla Grill ordered through Grand Floridian bakery
-Chocolate cake at Whispering Canyon

All items were ordered ahead of time either over the phone or by email

There's also paletas in Mexico in Epcot and we received So Delicious coconut ice cream at 1900 PF. The chef went to either Narcoosee's or Citrico's to get it for us.
