My son will be 13 years old when we go to Disney World next fall. His little sister will be 7. I've been trying to gather a few goodies to give them at the resort each day. It's easy to find stuff for my daughter. She loves Disney princesses and she's a girl.

I am really struggling with finding things for my son. He's excited about the trip, but he's not really all that into the Disney brand per se.

Any suggestions for inexpensive "treats" I can pack for him?

That's a hard one! Those teenage years are hard to find something they like! Maybe some treats like disney themed candy? Is he into any sports (do kids still collect baseball or football cards???) Trying to think of small things. Does he like comic books? What about the Kingdom Keepers books? I read those!! They are pretty good! Hidden Mickey book? Disney trivia book? Disney beach towel? Or stuff for the pool? Like dive sticks? Does he like star wars? Star wars stuff is everywhere and target has star wars stuff in their $1-$3 bins.

At that age, I would just give him the cash value of what you are giving her. I know when my boys were that age, they weren't interested in things unless it was food!

I'm not sure how much or little you are looking to give, but I've been playing/giving Nanoblocks sets a lot lately. They are a lot cheaper on Amazon than they are at say, Barnes & Noble, and they are a LOT of fun. Some models are well under $10. Not an every day gift, but a fun one for one day! And a fun activity for him to work on while others are napping, for example.

ETA here is an example: http://www.amazon.com/Nanoblock-581..._UL160_SR160,160_&refRID=0DHHASZ9GT993XGNV73Z

I'm thinking that a 13-year wouldn't have any interest in "Tinkerbelle gifts".

My teens have outgrown stuff like that, but they enjoy being involved by helping to pick out and prepare things for the younger ones.

My oldest ds is 12. He's the one totally pushing for our next Disney trip and loves all that is Disney but he's not much on wearing Disney brand stuff. I think he would like pins to add to his collection, vinylmations (he collects every trip), seems like he always gets a new light saber as a keepsake so maybe something Star Wars?, Disney candy or maybe gift certificates to pick his own treat for the day like a mickey rice krispie or such.
I know that while he's growing up quickly he still likes to get things in these types of situations when his younger brother does, etc. I think 12/13 is a hard age where they want to be grown but they still like a lot of the kiddie stuff secretly too. :)

I would make him coupons for use in the park such as "This coupons entitled you to an ice cream treat of your choice" & $5 to spend in any store in MK, stuff like that. They like to spend their own money & you don't have to worry about him losing a gift card.
I'm not telling my kids until Easter but that's what I plan on doing for my kids. Google images had a bunch of them. I even found one for a free drink at Epcot - my DD who will have recently turned 21 will really like that one!

as PP suggested, I have very fond memories of exploring the arcade a couple times around that age on a WDW vacation. What's your son into? lego makes some small kits or maybe give him a special couple hours with only 1 parent and head to teh lego store at disney springs to pick out something. i'm sure he'll be ok not getting something every day like his sister if you frame it well.

My son was 13 when we went this summer and he was all about pins, pins, pins. I didn't do any little treats but he would have enjoyed receiving pins because even though he was choosy about his pins, if he didn't really care for it he could have used it to trade!

I have a now 16 year old boy and 14 year old girl. I have been doing tinkerbelle gifts since they were 3 and 4. The girls are definitely easier than boys even as teens. This is what I got him last trip (think stocking stuffers):

Brand new $1 or $5 bills from the bank in envelopes with disney themes printed on them
iTunes gift card
Gum for the airplane rides
Disney and Star Wars Candy
Movie sized boxes of candy
Small $5 Star Wars Lego sets - he is "too old" for legos now but it reminds him of his lego days
Starbucks gift cards (if he likes Starbucks)
Pop Vinyl Figures
Mouse Pad
Sun glasses

If I think of more, I will post again.

Have you asked him? My DD12 would have no interest. She would much rather have spending money on a gift card.

Next fall? Kids that age change what they are in to constantly, I wouldn't do anything until next summer for sure!
