Daily Food Budget Universal

I didn't do the meal plan, but my sister's son's family did. They were already on the DDP, so he thought it would be great. It was not, in his opinion. The amount and quality of food they got wasn't even close to what they get with DDP. He said he would not do it again. My family ate breakfast in the room, brought sandwhiches for one meal and ate one meal in the park (I have 6 children--4 teenagers, so feeding all of us can be VERY pricey). I budgeted $140 a day for eating out once a day. We rarely get drinks. Remember if you have a AAA card, you get 10% off all food and souvenirs.

It sounds like I have enough to do this. I know I have been spoiled by the DDP. And for me since we don't typically eat that way the Table Service doesn't seem "dumbed down" to me. I mean a night out for us can be Chipotle of Chick Fil A. I heard good things from my DD about Bubba Gumps, she ate there in NY. This is really a pivital trip for me since I have been a Disney girl all the way and plan to remain that way. Of course the girls are both disappointed that we are skipping Cedar Point this year. We only live about 90 minutes from there, but such a let down after the themeing in Orlando. If I won the lottery I would move in a heartbeat!

DDP is a great deal for us at Disney when we go as escorts !!Cuz one thing those guys can do is eat!!!:rotfl2:They are on vacation and other than serious type restrictions we let them ENJOY!!I too really want to do Bubbas , the no ressie thing has me worried though, only cuz there is 10 of us !!

Hello there.. we are a family of 4.. 2 adults and 2 teenage boys. To help with the food budget. I make breakfast in the room.(sometimes i bring my griddle and make pancakes (we stay onsite) then for lunch we make sandwiches and have a few snacks. if you are staying onsite you can pack this in a cooler bag and leave it in a large locker or walk back to your room and take a lunch break. then you just need money for dinner.. there are many reasonable restaurants on city walk. The hotels have great places to eat as well.:cool1:I hope this helps. besides you will have extra money for goodies and even a few adult beverages.

I was wondering, is there a age limit for kids meals? Im not a big eater and i´ve found that restaurant portions are usually way way too much for me. My bf would eat my leftovers with out me asking but if we can save money by me eating of the kids menu it would be great.

I'm figuring about $100.00 per person per day for food. Also, I'm bringing a cooler with food for breakfast & lunches (and adult beverages) :)

I figure we will be going back to the hotel for the hottest part of the day anyway.....so why not have sandwich fixin's and some chips & soda there. Also, that lets us have more freedom with choosing an expensive dinner out if we want to. :thumbsup2

I had a picky eater that was above the age limit - he ordered kids meals (sometimes 2) everywhere - never a problem. I would say if you are on a meal plan of some sort that could be an issue but ordering off the menu - never a problem.
