Ok, I warn you now this is going to be a long one! We may of only gone for 2 days but I do tend to chatter on a bit :rotfl:

Cast:

Me (Sammie) 27 and obsessed with anything Disney especially Tinkerbell
Hubbie (Craig) 30 obsessed with anything Disney especially Toy Story
DS (Chester) 3 obsessed with being a monkey and slinky dog ride!!
I will put DD even though she did not come with us :guilty: Millie age 5months loves watching Little Mermaid with me and is obsessed with her Belle teddy!

So on Friday I got Chester up at 5.30am, I had not slept all night I was so excited about seeing Craig and Chester's faces when they realised where we were going!!

I was so excited about seeing Craigs face that I forgot to take pictures! (most unlike me!) They were both so so excited and Craig was so shocked! He could not believe that I had managed to pull it off AND keep it a secret for almost 6months! :cool1:

We took a very excited Chester to Nursery school and spent the day packing and getting ready (I had arranged for Craig to have time off work!). I did/do feel incredibly guilty that we were not taking Millie (my parents looked after her) but actually I am glad looking back at it that I stuck to my decision. It was the right thing to do for us.

Saturday we had a surprise lunch for Craig then headed over to my parents house, we stayed there the night and then on the Sunday morning my Dad drove us to Ebsfleet, Chester was all ready to go in his Jake and the neverland pirates outfit!

We have only done Eurostar indirect before so was really looking forward to going direct! We got to the station in plenty of time, Chester was very pleased to get a disney pack whilst we were waiting and I was very pleased that they let me have one for Millie! Train Journey was fab, we had table seats (that I had chosen) had 2 lovely ladies sitting opposite us, thankfully they didnt mind the whirlwind that is Chester!

When we arrived, the plan was to get the pink 50 bus to our hotel (l'elysse) but when we got to the timetable it said that it wasnt due for another 40mins (between 12 and 2.40 it only has one bus) I didnt really want to waste time so we headed back into the station and got a rer train to val de europe. I was very nervous about this but actually it was very easy to do and the hotel was just opposite the station so we didnt even get lost!

We checked in, dumped our stuff in our (very lovely room) and headed over to the parks on the shuttle bus.

We decided to go straight into the Studios first as Chester remembered Slinky dog ride from last time and really wanted to go on it! We headed to the ticket booths as we had sky deals vouchers so needed to exchange for our tickets (this was another thing that was panicing me, but again I needn't of worried it was so easy!)

When we got into the park we were a little overwhelmed at how busy it seemed (having gone in January before June was a massive difference haha) we started to que for the studio tours as Craig really wanted to do it, but 20mins in and the que was not really moving I think they were having break down issues, with a very excitable Chester we decided to just head round to Slinky dog instead! The weather was fab really warm and sunny, was great to see the parks in sunshine and not drizzle and rain!
So anyway..... we got round to Slinky dog, que'd for no more than 10mins and we were on!

[/IMG]

As you can see Chester still loved it! we then headed round to Cars and got on that within 20mins of que'ing, the whole time we were que'ing Chester was saying he needed to go on a blue car and I was really worried about the tantrum that would follow if we didnt get a blue car :lmao: luckily we were front of our que bit so were able to head straight to a blue car!
We looked around a bit, taking in some of the details. Wanted to see stitch live but no english showings :( so we decided to head over to Annettes Diner for some early tea (it was about 5.15ish)

Craig had the meal deal so got a burger meal, drink and brownie, Chester had a kids hot dog meal and I had some hash brown sticks (knowing that chester would never finish his meal!) It was sooo lovely, infact we have decided that its the best meal we have eaten at dlp. Chester's meal was massive he didnt even eat a quarter of the chips, so I helped him. The staff were so so friendly and our waiter even gave chester 6 plastic cups to take home with him!

Then we headed into Disney park, Wow. We had to stop at the bottom of main st and take in the castle. We may have seen it before but that lump in my throat is there everytime! We headed straight round to Buzz lightyear as that is Craig's fave! To my surprise the fast pass was still available so I grabbed us some fast passes then we got in the normal que, it was very fast moving so only took about 10mins or so until we got to the front.

[/IMG]

Much to Craig's annoyance I got the best score, he will still claim he is the best but I have the proof that infact it is me that is the best :lmao:

Chester really wanted to go on the rockets but the que was over an hour and I knew he would not last that long! The parade was about to start and I had remembered what people had said on here about it not being as good as expected, so we decided to make use of the shorter que's and head to its a small world. BUT whilst making our way over there we actually got cordoned off by the entrance where the parade starts! So as it happens we did see the parade! I am actually glad we did, although I totally agree I have seen better Disney parades and I do think the repetitive music lets it down, seeing Chester's face was worth it! He loved it, he saw Hook and put his fists up at him!!

We were lucky that because we were at beginning of parade we were able to quickly get over to IASW and got on it straight away! We all really loved it (to my surprise!) we had never seen the dlp one before only the wdw one.
Then we headed over too the storybook ride and casey jr, last time they were closed for refurb so another dlp first! We all loved Casey Jr what a little hidden gem!

By then it was our fast pass time for Buzz Lightyear so we went back onto that, Chester sat next to me this time.... and beat me! I will let him have it though, I was busy looking at all the detailing :rotfl:

Then Chester brought himself a Buzz Lightyear space ranger spin gun, and spent the rest of the break 'shooting' people!

[/IMG]

We headed over to Pirates of the Carribean, Chester was a bit scared at first but he soon loved it, especially the log drop!

Before we traveled we measured Chester and I was pretty sure he was still 1cm too short for BTM but as he really wanted to do it, we went over to check. The cm was really good, he measured him, chatted to him and then explained to me that he was just a tiny bit too short. He could see the disappointment in Chester's face so he gave him a certificate which allows him to go straight to the front of the que on his next vist :yay: Chester was happy about this because it means we deffo have to come back for him to use it! :rotfl2: I went on BTM (first time at dlp) and loved it! I must of looked like a right loner laughing at myself all the way round but I dont care!

Next Craig wanted to go on Phantom Manor, so we walked round to there, he wanted to take Chester on but I said no way!
Whilst Craig was on the ride, Chester was busy running around 'shooting' people!

[/IMG]

By this time it was 10.45pm and I was amazed that Chester was still standing :rotfl: we put Chester into the pushchair and walked over to Main Street to get a good photo spot for dreams half way down. Chester fell asleep at 10.58!! I was gutted for him, but knew it was pointless to wake him, he had done so so well all day.

IMG_7165.jpg
[/IMG]

Craig filmed for me on my small camera (we didnt take our video) so we could show Chester. I took way way way to many pics!! I wont show them on here as I would not want to spoil its awesomeness on here! It truly was amazing, I had a lump in my throat on more than one occasion! We left 5 mins before then end as we had to catch the last shuttle back to hotel at 11.40. I was ok with that though as I could still see it as we were walking out. We then ran to the bus stop and got in the massive scrum for the bus. I can not believe how rude some of the guests were, climbing over our pushchair to get on before us!! Luckily a really nice guest came to the rescue! He was already on and had spotted what had happened, he lifted the pushchair on for us and made people move so we could all fit on. We were really appreciative of this as it was not a very nice panic to be in!!

We got back to the hotel by 12, lifted Chester into his bed without even waking him and crashed out ourselves!

Day 2 coming soon!!!

what a great first day - a surprise trip for both your men too, well done :thumbsup2!

Loving Chester with his Buzz gun too!

Loving the trip report :coffee:

We thought Annette's was great, too. Enormous servings though - we ordered meals for all the kids and there was so much left over. Next time I will copy you and eat their leftovers as my meal.

Great first day. It's amazing how the lo's just keep going all day long at DLP, Chester did so well :thumbsup2

Chester slept night through until 7am, Craig and I had a bit of a restless night. Mainly due to the MASSIVE thunderstorm that was happening! It was weird, never heard a storm like it!
So we were fully expecting the weather to be a bit pony when we got up, but luckily it was just mild.

We actually thought it was 6am when we got up but it was 7am because stupid me looked at my phone rather than my watch! So we quickly got showered and dressed, then headed down to breakfast!
Breakfast was yummy, typical continental, everything was layed out well and it was surprisingly quiet. So we just took our time and filled up :lmao:

We then went back to the room to pack everything up and get things sorted for the day, I was quite sad at that point that we only stayed one night, as the Hotel was lovely, comfy beds, very clean and lovely power shower! We checked out and waited over the road for the shuttle bus. Chester spent the time waiting having 'fights' with me and Craig......

We took our case and extra bags to the lockers upstairs in the station and paid the 5.50 euros to store our bags for the day, then we decided to head straight into the Disney Park this time so once again we que'd to get our sky vouchers exchanged into tickets (I am such a money saving queen I will not go anywhere without getting some kind of discount :rotfl2:)

By this time it was 9.30 so we wandered around main st area, admiring the detail and taking photos. I am annoyed though because as I type this I realise I totally forgot to go down the walk ways either side this time

IMG_7305.jpg
[/IMG]

We decided that we would head straight to peter pan at rope drop to get a fast pass (even though Chester wanted to go straight to the 'zurg shooting ride') We got to Peter Pan and people were que'ing for fast pass so I said I would wait in que while Chester and Craig went to que for Pinoccio (yes I know I have spelt it wrong!). Everyone did not stay in que for fast pass and it seemed a bit of a free for all so after 5 mins or so waiting patiently I realised it was getting me no where so sadly I did the same.

I headed over to Pinoccio and found Craig and Chester. We didnt que for long it was fairly organised. Next Chester wanted to go on the tea cups but Craig refused so it was left to me to go on with him  we went on twice in a row as there was no que!

IMG_7337.jpg

Then we popped back to Peter pan for our fast pass time, loved it as usual.

By now Chester was desperate to go on Buzz Lightyear so we went round there got a fast pass, que'd to go on for about 10mins I think Craig won this time but still didnt beat my high score :lmao: Then we went over to the submarine and had a look around, a real hidden gem that I wish we would of done before tbh!

Headed back over to buzz lightyear to use our fast passes and discovered that the fast pass didnt make much difference to que times this time around

We were then late for our cowboy cookout lunch reservation for 12.00. Never the less we made our way over there and they were more than happy to let us in. It was not overly busy, we found a table I gave Craig the camera, Chester the autograph book and went to get the food.

Now most people will probably not agree with what I did here but heyho. We were not overly hungry so I changed our ticket to say 1 adult, I went up to the counter to order my one meal (the platter) and the server was a little stroppy with me as he did not believe that there was only one of me! But he still let me order it so it was all ok.

Chester and Craig ate the meal, I ate the pudding :goodvibes

When I got back with the food, Daisy had been round and Chester was extreamly excited that he had given her a kiss!

I have to say that I was a little disappointed in this Character meal, in that the characters didnt seem to pay attention to where they had been and we kept getting missed. So I ended up calling Pluto over and then we went to find Woody, Eeyore (who would not have a picture, even though he missed our table) and Tigger. Goofy came to our table. I really thought the food was massively over priced for what it was. Even when you take in to account meeting the characters as it was not very organised at all.

When we left Cowboy cookout we went to check wait times for the rockets and for Autopia as Craig really wanted to go on that, but the wait time was mental! So we decided to head over to Disney Studios, Craig really wanted to see the stunt show and we hadn't managed it the day before.
On our way down main street we got caught up in the 20th anniversary train which was fab! Chester decided he needed to do a little dance to the music.....

Felt sad leaving the park as we knew we wouldnt be returning this trip. We all said goodbye to the Castle and off we went!

When we got into the studios we headed straight over to tram tours as Craig still wanted to do it, sadly it had broken down so was closed :( Chester was in his pushchair and had fallen asleep (very unusual!) so I took the opportunity to go in the single rider que for Parachutes and only que'd for max 10mins! Felt a bit guilty as Chester really wanted to go on it but the normal que was an hour long and I couldnt put him in single rider que! Luckily he was still asleep so knows nothing about me going on it!!

We then woke Chester up so he could go onto Slinky dog, which we had to do twice! We really should of been walking over to the stunt show by now but Chester had a tired tantrum so we had to go on Cars. We que'd for 20mins for this, because it kept breaking down!
When we got off we really thought we would of missed the show but I insisted we at least try to get in. To our surprise they were still letting people in even though we were 10/15mins late. We got a seat on the end of an isle, perfect with Chester, Chester and Craig both enjoyed this. I thought it was OK but as I had already seen it in WDW I could of taken or left it! Chester LOVED it when Lightning Mcqueen came out but was very confused when he was talking in English and Mater was speaking back in French?! I think they should do one or the other?!

After the show everyone was lining up to see the stars and cars parade, I really wanted to see it but Craig was not fussed and as it was his birthday trip I didnt push it (we only had a little while left in the park) so we headed over to Aladins carpets and as it happens got stuck on the tail end of the parade :lmao: From what I saw I was very impressed! Lovely to see Remy as Chester loves Ratatouille!

We got on Aladin without any que and made it our last ride of the trip. Chester loved going up and down especially as Craig hates heights!!

We then had one last look around at all the detailing and then headed out to Disney Village to get something to eat for on the Eurostar. I was going to get Chester a Happy meal until I saw the price! 4 euros!!! Mental! So instead we all got something from Earl of Sandwich (yes more expensive than the happy meal but you cant get it in the uk for less!) I have to say if/when we go to DLP again, I will make sure we go out of the parks and head to EoS for lunches it was yummy and very filling!

Anyway..... then we spent the last of our change in the station shop, I went to pick up our case etc from the locker (another thing I would do next time we came, such a time saver) and headed to Eurostar check in. This was a bit of a free for all and I didnt like it! Obviously I expected that we would have to fold down the pushchair to go through security so while waiting in the sort of que we did this and I struggled to the conveyer with it and Chester. Another family then tried to push in front but luckily the security saw what had happened and ushered us through! As we had never done Direct train before I totally didnt expect for the train to be there so that we could get sat down! This was a massive plus! We were able to get Chester settled and eating his tea with no panic of leaving in 2mins :rotfl:

We had a nice journey back, chatting about the fun we had. Craig said how pleased he was that I had gone to all the trouble to organise it for him and it deffo was the best thing I could of done! :yay::yay:

What a great trip you had. :goodvibes It sounds like it was definately worth all the effort you put in to organising it and keeping it a secret.

Wow, you had such a good trip! Chester just looks so excited on your photos.

Loving your Buzz score - I wish I could do that well, I got around 180,000 last time and I thought that was good :lmao:. DH always gets nearer 300,000!

Shame about BTM but at least you can get on next time - how nice that the CM did that. My DD2 is just turned 4 but very tall so she was over by about 2 cm which meant we could all ride it together as a family of 4 - it fast became our favourite ride ;).

Oh, and next time you might get to take Millie as well - she will probably be into Princesses before long :).

great trip report! your little boy is so cute and well done for keeping the surprise, i kept it from kids on our second trip but to surprise dh too-wow, must have been hard! we had similar experience at cowboy cookout- told them at front desk 2 adults and 3 kids but one wont eat the meal, thought we'd just share wedges with him as that was all he liked so they said fine but at counter i was told i had to pay for him, everyone has to have a meal if eating inside!
pity your lo was just off thunder mountain, my youngest first rode at nearly 3 but hated it so this time at 4 loved it-great to all ride together, so hopefully next time 4 him!!

Thanks everyone :goodvibes it really was fab, the memories made were awesome!

Shame they would not let you just order the food you wanted Irish disney fan, I think if they had'nt of let me we would of walked out as it would of been a waste of money.

Deffo will be taking Millie next time, I am thinking maybe March time (If I can pursuade hubbie that it is a must :rotfl:) Chester will deffo be able to go on BTM then! I brought Millie a Minnie mouse pushchair for her belle teddy from DLP so she is happy with that (even though I still feel guilty!)

Me and Craig are still talking about the Buzz lightyear score, he still claims I cheated :lmao:

Thanks for your trip report! Is the Studio tram tour ever open these days. I keep reading about lots of people finding it closed and I'm sure it was closed last time I went.:confused3

When we went last year it was shut the whole time  and this time it was just broken down all the time! Such a shame!

you always manage to pack so much into your trips sammie :goodvibes.

We were on the studio tram tour last Wednesday, I think it opened at about 10.30 that day.

:lmao: I know, its because I am a planner. Hubbie hates it because I he says I am like an army major organising everyone! I am surprised we got so much done this time though with only 2 days to plan properly! The only things that we wanted to do but didnt get chance to this time were the tram tour, stitch (because no english showings :sad1:) and Snow white because it didnt open until the afternoon on second day, I am annoyed about this because I forgot to go back to it! I put this down to lack of planning time :lmao:

We both agreed that next time we would like an extra day so we could chill out a bit more, dont get me wrong we had a fab time but the extra time to stop and have a sit down or a coffee would of been fab

Wow, you did so much just in those 2 short days, well done :thumbsup2

Chester looks so cute in the pirates hat :)

I wish the queues for autopia weren't so big, otherwise we'd do it more often.

Well done on keeping it a secret for so long, you must be a master planner :rotfl:
