I'm going to my friends baby shower and I've included some things for her (ie. Bath and Body works items, candles, Starbucks gift certificate, new pajamas).

However, I'm good friends with the daddy too so I'd like to get a little something for him. I already bought a bib that says "Little Bears Fan" on it because the father likes the Chicago Bears.

But what other ideas could I include on a little gift for the daddy? I'm trying to keep costs down a little so nothing too expensive.

I always give dads No-Doz. It's only partially a joke.

A gift certificate for a night of babysitting would probably be the very best thing you could give him.

Gas mask , Rain slicker (if boy) and some surgical glove to wear. Oh and ear plugs as well :lmao:

One of my guy friends' sister did this for him: She bought an apron (solid color) at Wal-Mart and filled each pocket up with things that he would need for a diaper change (nose plugs, rubber gloves, baby wipes, safety glasses and lots of diapers). It was really cute!!!

I think I'll make up the gift certificate, thats a cute idea...although they know I'll do it for them anytime.

Also, let me ask everyone this...I got the mom a pajama set, however its a regular set. Since the shower is next weekend and she's not due until Nov 20th...do you think I should get a maternity pj set instead? I'm not sure if she's decided to nurse the baby or not, so I don't want to get her a nursing pajama set.

What about some books about kids with their dads? I love giving childrens books at baby showers, they last a long time and can be used over and over. Also what about a "daddies guide to babies" or something like that. Have fun.

This is a really cute idea!! I'm definitely going to get this.

Now that I think about the apron idea...its cute, but its more of a gag gift so I might not get it. I'd hate to spend the money on something he really won't get use out of.

At our baby shower some friends gave DH a "Daddy Diaper Bag" which was actually a tackle box/tool box filled with stuff for baby with a "Daddy spin" on it. It had stuff like diapers and duct tape in case the tapes on the diaper pull off or something, no-doz, bandaids, Lysol air freshener, those clear plastic goggles for changing baby. pacifiers, and a small bottle of liquor for when Dad has had a long day with baby. They decorated it with stickers to say "Dad's Diaper Kit" or something like that. It was really cute and DH loved it. :)

For dad of a boy- pee goggles. Just take a swim goggles, add Tacky Glue around lenses and dip in gold glitter. Wrap in a cloth diaper and secure with diaper pin. ;)

Thanks everyone for your suggestions! I really liked the "Daddy Kits" but I've already bought my friend some diapers, wipes, powder, J&J bath, so I didn't want to do the gag gift (although it was very cute).

I went to Target, Wal-Mart, and ACME tonight and found some very cute baby books that have to do with daddies and daughters. I'll wrap these up with the "little Bears fan" bib and the "daddy's little girl" big I got for the baby. I think he'll enjoy that.

Thanks again for the help!! Very cute ideas!

At my babyshower my mom gave my dh a travel bag full of things for the hospital. Like; slippers, snacks, toothbrush, toothpaste, soap, cards, a calling card...... Stuff he would need since he planned to spend the nights with me there. It was a really nice.

I gave him a male diaper bag. :thumbsup2

I like the book idea too...
some of our favorites that my DH loved to read to our little ones...
Guess How Much I Love You?
On the Day You Were Born
God Gave Us You
I Love My Daddy Because....
If You Give A Mouse A Cookie
If You Take A Mouse To School
The Kissing Hand

I nursed both of my children for a few weeks but I never wore nursing clothing. I would leave it at the regular one as long as it is somewhat nursing friendly, ie: buttons, lose top, something like that.

One of my daughters favorite childrens books was "Just me and My Dad."
