This weekend we spent some time at the parks and since it was our last trip to DHS before our passes expire, I spent some time slowing going through the Walt Disney: One Mans Dream exhibit at DHS one last time. I have been fascinated with Walt Disney since I was about 10 and enjoy all the history but was upset at the latest addition to the exhibit. D23.
There is a office looking scene set up with all types of D23 stuff on the desk walls, even a D23 bag hanging on the back of the office chair. It is in the last room of the exhibit before you enter the movie and it is behind glass.
I noticed it as I was entering the movie and had to snap pictures fast so they are not as good and extensive as I would have taken if I had more time but it is an idea. If we did not have an ADR I would have stayed longer.
I don't want to replay any debates about D23 that have already played out here, but IMHO this does NOT belong in a exhibit named Walt Disney: One Mans Dream. The exhibit is about his life, work in animation and television, and the theme parks he began. A club that basically allows you to purchase merchandise and provides a NON exclusive magazine does NOT belong. IMHO Disney has stooped to a new level.
NO where else in the exhibit does it push "clubs" you can buy into such as DVC, or the Disney limited edition figurines ect....... Why is this relevant to Walt Disney's life and work?????
Oh and the last picture is of the HUGE sign as you exit the movie. Nice, huh?
You KNOW you want one so you can be an OFFICIAL fan.......
I'm NOT!
Um, we want to see the $800 pen not a boring bag.......
Sign as you exit so you know EXACTLY how to join, LOL!
