D23 Memberships?

I remember something confusing happened when I first signed up with d23 a couple of years ago. As you said, the Disney Store site recognized me as being a d23 member. I began receiving the regular d23 emails (the Fanfare newsletter), but then, a few months later, I got an email telling me I had not registered my d23 account.

So I went to the d23 website and tried to register and it didn't work. Ultimately I had to write to GuestRelations@D23.com and ask what I was doing wrong. They resent me my d23 member number, which, I believe, was somewhere on the receipt from the Disney Store, then directed me here - https://d23.com/membership-information/ - and told me to make sure to use that number when I registered, as well as picking a password with upper and lower case letters, symbols, etc. In other words, you can't use your Disney Store log-in info for d23.

The website has changed a bit since then, so I wonder if they removed the actual registration link? I don't see it....

I just shredded my D23 Gold Membership card. So mad at them. Bought tickets to the D23 Expo, could not even get into the convention center. Three hour line to get in. No customer service reps outside the building. If we HAD gotten inside there were up to four hour lines for different events. Called the customer service line, told them I could not even get inside the building. No refunds. Basically told to go pound sand. That was all I needed to hear. I had been a D23 member for three years. They do not care. Was told a supervisor would contact me. No one ever did. Flew home, shredded my unused tickets. Shredded my D23 Gold Membership card. Wiser now. Save your money.

By noon every day there was no line to get in so had you really waited 3 hours you surely would have gotten in. Maybe not the biggest panel of the day but you would have gotten onto the show floor.

Agree. As this thread shows (D23 EXPO THREAD - See you in 2019!), no one else reported not getting into the building or onto the show floor. With all the information that was available and generously shared in that thread, we all made it into the building (Sorcerers, Gold Members, and regular attendees) and into the panels we wanted each day. Yes, there were challenges faced and sacrifices made, but that happens with every Expo. Sorry the PP had such a negative experience, but the information to help prevent that was available.

I heard waites of that long to get in but again no one was turned away from the show floor for capacity only some panels.

The expo had some screw ups (the biggest being the animaiton panel issue) but I personally thought entry was done better this year than previous years. After 9 am I never saw jt at a dead stop since as many people as they possibly could were processed and taken inside to wait before 9am.

We waited that long each day, but still made it into the building on time for the early panels that we wanted or for shopping. No one told us that they couldn't get in. And people who arrived around noon or so just walked right in.

You just posted the exact same thing twice dude. Lol.

The bigger issue I had was how customer service supervisor blew me off. I couldn't wait in the sun for three hours just to get in. They simply did not care about me. Thousands were o.k. with this, so I'm easy to not care about. Shredded my D23 Gold card. D23 showed their true colors. Sharing my experience. I saw others leave without raising the issue. They just left. Shame on Disney. Walt would not approve...

Did you perhaps try coming a little earlier the next day so you weren't in the sun? It was a 3 day event. Heck if you were in town for the expo again you could have come around 11:30 to noon and had 0 wait at all. Yes others were fine waiting but those who couldn't either didn't come or came later. That is the nature of any convention you go to.

Also Comic Cons let alone a solely Disney Comic Con wasn't around when Walt was alive so you are kidding yourself if you think he would have cared about this event haha.

So basically you did no research before attending a convention that 75,000 other people were attending.
