Thought I would share this information for those who might not know. The website was only upated today I think.

Many balked at the high 74.99 price tag for a years membership, not really knowing all it would entail or if it would be worth it.

D23 now offers two levels of subscriptions: D23 Gold ($74.99) is the original level and appears to be unchanged in 2010. The new level, however, is D23 Silver and around half the price of the D23 Gold level, at $34.99. The only apparent difference between the two levels is that D23 Silver doesn’t include the magazine (coffee table book) subscription.

Also being new for both levels this year are periodic discounts throughout the year at Downtown Disney (presumably at both resorts).

After being a charter member for a year, for us it was worth it I guess. But we also attend DL more then WDW. Other then the magazines, we got special little gifts throughout the year, bought numerous pins since we collect and attended the D23 Expo which was amazing. Since we don't live near DL or WDW we weren't able to attend any of the D23 member events, movie screenings or tours of archives, studios or backlots. They say more events will be held at both coasts and eventually the expo will be in WDW.

Just thought I'd share for those who might be interested.

I got an email today about renewing, I didn't pay a lot of attention to it as it's a ways off. I have not even opened any of the 4 magazines. I am torn about renewing, I was not able to attend any of the events, and anything I wanted to buy was already sold out. I guess I need to read up on the convention and see if I could attend. As far as the magazines, since I never opened them, are they worth the 17 dollars per issue?

I think it would be nice to ffer a discount for renewing members.

One fo the biggest reasons we joined was for the magazines. The membership price pays for the cost of the mags. They're more like coffee table books then a traditional magazine. Very colorful, great articles. I've read them all front to back and really enjoyed them.

If I renew this year it will be on the silver level.

Since we don't need two sets of magazines in our house, I think one of us will probably do the Silver package as well. We have a complete first year set still in the packaging that we've never opened. Maybe we could sell them on ebay or something...who knows.
