Nothing was announced nothing new is coming to WDW what a joke!

Club 33 in DL will be expanded!

Lumiere will be an AA in the BandB M&G

That's it what a joke!

Yeah, I have to agree. It was a complete bust for me too...I was hoping, blue sky wise, they were going to announce an expansion of AK or the MI coaster at DHS...and the worst, at least a new parade to replace the very tired MSEP.

But nothing.

Total fail!

Well that's a disappointment. Having just been to WDW and seeing some of the recent changes/updates - Star Tours, FLE construction, even the Hauntend Mansion queue and hitch hiking ghosts I was holding out hope that some new major plans were in the works (or even just getting the Yeti marginally functional). I know they have a lot invested in FLE and the DCA expansion but they really need some major focus back on WDW.

I concur how about developing that random, useless plot of land north of Asia in Animal Kingdom. Australia anyone?

When I learned that one of the biggest artist they were able to get was William Silvers, I realized they were low in tank of special guests. He is a Dreaworks employee that stole from Disney feature animation when he worked for them in florida.

Since club 33 is obviously so popular at DL that they are expanding it, I'm surprised they aren't Linning one into WDW! :thumbsup2

I went to the Expo in 2009 and have continually publicly stated I was very underwhelmed! I guess it is true again for this year, that the Expo is not worth anywhere near the hype.

Only a little surprised because 2 years ago stuff was being leaked ahead, and this year nothing...a lot disappointed, though...I realize FLE is not here yet, but what is beyond? C'mon Disney, others parks need love too! The fact nothing was announced tells me nothing else new in 2012.

Oh well, we aren't going back until 2013 anyway.

:rotfl::rotfl::rotfl:

I mean, come on....what did you expect, people?

They will not...i repeat NOT add anything of significance for probably several years.

Rides don't make money...and we should all know far too well by now.

What about fantasyland? Well...first off i think its a good thing.
But this isn't to give the kids new things to excite them covered by their ticket (though that damn well should be the driver at those prices)

I don't have the numbers in front of me...but i've studied them before...and the real profits come from Magic Kingdom, EPCOT, and Downtown - specifically the marketplace.

It's about the GIFTSHOPS!!! all decisions are giftshop based and have been for 20 years. DVC? more people for the giftshops more parks? longer stays - more browsing in the giftshops. Downtown Disney "redevelopment"? ya..that ones a softball.

The only moves we've seen at the two "lesser" parks have been just for credibility on the surface...and they need them to be viable choices to keep the people on property for 7+ days...I wonder why?

Look at it:

MGM opened with few attractions in 89...star tours in 90 (which sucks and undoubtedly still does)...major addition in TOT in 94 (5 years)...major addition in Rockinrollercoaster in 99 (5 years)...sporadic minor additions and kids attractions here and there....car show in 2005 (ok...a clone but a decent sized deal...6 years)...major addition in TSM in 2009 (4 years)...and not much else - show replacements and shutdowns.

AK:
Opened rushed with little in attractions in 98...Asia opened in 99 due to the rush opening in 98...chester and hester was thrown up in 01 to cover the lack of substance in the park (because of declining attendence...a then unknown phenomena for disney that has repeated itself several times since)...Everest was to save face again in 2005 (that's a novella unto its self)...and nothing else...some show replacements and shutdowns.

They know exactly what they're doing...get them outta mgm and ak and to these places in the pm

1. DTD
2. MK
3. EPCOT

in that order...or even better:

1. MK then EPCOT
2. MK then DTD
3. EPCOT then DTD
or the coup de gras: MK then EPCOT then DTD!! oh, the revenue!

oh...and few humans can run for 8 hours and have anything left in the tank in the florida weather at the waterparks. So you know what those thrillseekers do after typhoon or blizzard. Alot of them "take it easy" in the evening. ya know what that means at WDW? i think the imagination can answer that question, right?

So back to fantasyland...i think it will be nice. but we all know its to keep more bodies in the park so they eventually gravitate to the registers, right?
Well if you didn't - then now you do.

But they are also going to suck the life out of it and call it "new" for probably a decade...or at least until all the paint has faded in the sun/ been chipped off and they cut the budget so it can't be repainted...

So it is still a dream at this point...another land to AK, IJA at DHS, "lucasland", Monster Inc Coasters, Rides in the World Showcase, new countries in the world showcase, new imagination!...villian's parks...new PI...

It's all really a fantasy.

MAYBE in 3 to 4 years you might get your monsters inc coaster...but i would expect more likely some kinda Cars ride. But you will see DVC...then DVC...then probably a DVC. And you'll see more outsourcing of stores and restaurants. and you might even see more stores and restaurants built.

But disney is over the ride and the show as their passion. There is no desire to innovate or add or create and certainly no will to put the capital in to do so. that worm has turned...
and then it was sold to the top bidder at property control.

But all the real additions that we...the fans...appreciate are merely thrown out as bones for PR purposes on an increasingly infrequent schedule. It's a shield for the money people.

I before i get jumped...i do think the expansion in fantasyland will be well done....I just have no illusion as to why its done or what it represents.

One slight disagreement with above statement the new Star Tours is awesome....also

Remember Disney is a business. Obviously when running a theme park, merchandise is your key cash cow. So you are correct to an extent. I disagree with what you said about shows/attraction not being a primary motivator. Ak and MGM are poor examples because they were thrown up by Eisner to best competition (Universal Buesch Garden) my primary beef with Disney is how they throw up parks around the world like 1950's real estate unfinished and move onto the next park while we continue to go to two essentially half day parks at the World.

You people expect way too much...

DL got Star Tours and Mermaid this year...

WDW is working on fantasyland...come on be real

There does not need to be 4 major ride announcements every year.

Sorry EC DHS and DAK need attractions badly they needed to do something!

At least you got into the Parks & Resort presentation - we waited for 1.5 hrs and were finally turned away!
Got there 2 hrs early for Dick Van **** - and they told us we had 0 chance.

The 'Carousel of Projects' is pretty lean outside of the Fantasyland work -- and that seems to have only 1 ride for 2014 ( well, Little Mermaid too). Mostly meet and greets...Looks pretty though.

Rides bring in more people, more people bring in more cash, more people buy merchandise and fill up hotels and restaurants.

As for new rides, Disney has already invested billions with new parks. You guys under estate them. Have you ever heard don't put all of your eggs into one basket? They know what there doing. If they really wanted to Disney can design the best amusement park with all e ticket rides and then what. They would only be left with one great park rather then several parks that they can grow from. Sooner or later the rides at Universal will get outdated and all they will have to be replaced. As for Disney there planning for years in advance. "If you build it they will come" They will already have the upper hand with parks already started and the real-estate to grow and make them better. Duh!!!! The population will only grow and get bigger by then Disney will have theme parks all over the world. They are not just thinking of right now.

doesnt mean stuff isnt in the works...who cares about the "official announcements" we all know that disney has done some major things in the past without public knowledge until a much later time

agreed, they do tend to over hype these events (not just D23 but also the webcasts etc) and then only really "announce" stuff we all already knew about and constructionwise are near complete.

I went to the Expo in 2009 and have continually publicly stated I was very underwhelmed! I guess it is true again for this year, that the Expo is not worth anywhere near the hype.

I have always felt D23 was just a marketing scam to get people to spend more money... Money to join... money for 'exclusive items'... money for the EXPO's where they have lots of other things to sell.... Just invite some Disney Artists to show up and talk for an hour and people will pay too much! :lmao:

Glad i never joined cause Since day one of this I always though the same way, what marketting crap it is. Its funny that everyone here hypes it up to be such a special niche they belong to and cant wait for the d23 weekend each year and then when it comes they are always under whelmed.
Just from the photos it looks soo boring to be there. Even Iger didnt bother showing up.

Disney used to be such a creative endeavor but now we get things like this and dee vee ceee, etc.

Disney sold out to the Chinese government...'nough sad. :rotfl: that's the main reason were not seeing any love more than the FLE, theyre breaking ground on the Shanghai resort, which apparently will have the biggest Disney castle in the world.

Not just that, but its also said to be the largest, and most interactive Disney park ever. Looks like they're turning this project into a technological flagship for the others...
