Just read that instead of letting people line up at 5am they are now going to open up area in the convention to the public for 10PM the night before. So they basically were saying if you are not in line at 10pm you will not get into the 1st big presentation of each day. My son was really bummed and I hate to disappoint him. I have a cpap machine for a severe case of sleep apnea. It is to the point where if it wasn't for the machine I wouldn't be here. My son told me it is not worth chancing it for us to try to sleep in line and for me to not make it through the night. Bless his heart but I could hear the disappointment in his voice. I told him we can get up at 5am and see what the line is like and we may still be able to get in. Here is another good announcement.

In effort to minimize wait times for our guests, we’re introducing StorePass at select D23 EXPO shopping locations. A very limited quantity of D23 EXPO 2015 StorePass tickets will be available for priority entry to these D23 EXPO shopping experiences: Disney Dream Store, Disney Store, and Mickey’s of Glendale.

Here’s how it works:

  1. Starting at 10 a.m., and while D23 EXPO StorePass tickets last, visit the StorePass desk located adjacent to the StagePass distribution area in Hall A.
  2. Choose one of the 30 minute shopping experience timeslots, held from 12 p.m. – 5 p.m.
  3. Present your D23 EXPO 2015 admission ticket to receive a StorePass ticket for the respective shopping experience location
Only thing is what is a limited quantity to them? 10 passes? We will have to wait and see. Are we going to get a map in advance because I would like to try to get one of these?

The arena has a separate entrance than the rest of the exhibits, so one up side of not getting in there would be you can get a storepass inside. Instead of 5am I'd do 4am. From camping out at Comic Con and for park events it seems like there's a lull after 1am when people stop showing up in lines, but then by 5am it will pick up again because that's getting close to a normal time that many people wake up for early shifts or long commutes and it's easy for them to be up and ready by then.

This is important information. I cannot find it on the D23 website and have not received an email from D23 about it. Can you let us know where you saw this? Thanks!

As this is my first Expo, I'm a little curious how the lines work too. I mean, once the doors open, do the people in line calmly keep their position in line and make their way to the Hall D23? Or once the doors open, do people just rush in and start lining up again for the first presentation?

I have been to D23 twice and the lines are usually full of very friendly people who do not rush or try to cut. We usually make friends with the people in front and behind us so when some of us leave for food, restroom...etc, it does not look like we are "cutting". With that said, the entire process is exhausting and we just don't think it is worth it anymore. We decided not to attend this year.

I am not sure past ways that lines have worked are going to apply this year. In 2013 they had a good setup for the main D23 Arena where people queued outside and were let directly into the Arena. The queues were taped off on the ground and all things considered worked very well.

For the other presentations there are queues that are sometimes held inside rooms with a very clear end of line and people following that just fine.

This year with the 10PM queueing inside the ACC I do not know how this will work.

The presentation lines are not in the same area as the main exhibit hall. The arena is on one end of the main floor, they used the outside entrance last time. The first year there was an entrance in the exhibit hall, but I think they will use the outside one this time. The main exhibit hall is on ground level like the arena. There is a lobby area, and last time there was only 1 entrance to/from the exhibit hall. Once people got in there it was mad dash to various store areas for exclusives or for show passes. Show passes was a little less urgent. Then the actual meeting rooms and presentations are upstairs, which you access from the lobby. For show passes you did need to go in the exhibit hall, but to just wait in line for a presentation you can go upstairs. The archive exhibit was also upstairs. It also had a massive line last time, but I waited until the end of the day.

I ran into a line cutters at the last expo. The people in front of me were friendly and while we waited for over 2 hours we were liking each other's tweets and chatting. But when the line started moving there was LOTS of cutting. I confronting one family who cut in 30 yards from the door when we had been standing on Harbor for 90 minutes before the line even moved 10 feet. The father just shoved his way in and then waived over the wife and teenage kids. He wasn't friendly, to put it mildly.
