Ever dream you could have a night in Fantasyland all to yourself? We do, too! To grant that wish, D23 is taking over all of Fantasyland for a once in a lifetime bash to celebrate our first anniversary.

D23 is taking over all of Fantasyland for a spectacular bash to celebrate our first anniversary.
The magic begins in front of Sleeping Beauty Castle as D23 Members and their guests are led into the most magical realm of all, Fantasyland! You'll be able to ride the attractions, meet some familiar characters (and some you may not have seen for a while!), and have a chance to see some classic pieces of Disneyland up close and personal, including Walt's Car and Cinderella's Crystal Coach!

D23 Members and their guests will enjoy a wide array of tantalizing Disney-inspired desserts. And, naturally, there will be a few D23 surprises, including a special commemorative pin for everyone attending our party!

A Few Things:

1. I'm not happy about the $50 surcharge for the Archives tour since it was free the first year. If nothing else they should keep it free for charter members that didn't get to go the first year since tickets were gone as soon as it registration opened. Pretty sure they are going to charge for the Flower and Garden thing this year even though it was free last year too. And with the new membership tier, I'm sure it will be even harder to get into these events.

2. The anniversary parties, especially the one at WDW. I like the idea, even though I'm sure the tickets are going to be outrageous in price. The idea of an "exclusive" showing of Phillharmagic really cracked me up though. Really? Of all the rides in MK they could pick they picked that one? How often do you have to wait more than one show cycle to get into see the movie...or go first thing in the morning or late at night and you'll have a more exclusive showing than when they fill it with D23 folks. The party in DL will have all of Fantastyland, of course they are having their party on a Wednesday where the WDW is on a Friday. I guessing they chose Philharmagic so they could stuff fill it with D23 and have somewhere to show the slides of the new fantasyland, which I'm hoping will be more than just the artist renderings they have already released. Hopefully they realize these are Disney fans and will have already seen all of that...heck we saw the leaked blueprints.

3. The movie screenings. I think D23 is making the biggest blunder by just doing these in CA at the Studios. It would be so much better if these were held across the country. Why not partner with someone like AMC and pick like the biggest cities in each state and hold these screenings. One or two people from D23 could come out to host (and I'm not asking for Dave Smith, just someone from Disney), give us some free popcorn and soda, and not charge an arm and a leg for the tickets and people would be (somewhat) happy.

Bottom line....their pricing is, to use a technical term, WACKY.

$50 for a 2 hour tour of the Studios & Archives? I can understand them want to charge something, to discourage people who are on the fence, but from Zero to 50???

It's like they just pull numbers out of thin air. Example: $195 for the two-day multiple event Magic & Merriment at WDW vs $275(!!) for the Candlelight Processional dinner event at Disneyland (which didn't sell out, by the way).

I really want to go to the Anniversary Party at DL, but I'm scared of what it will cost.

I completely agree!!! I was able to participate in some of the free events last year, the studio tour and the Disneyland anniversary event. I really felt like the free events added value to my D23 membership, and I felt good about being a member. However, paying $35 or $75 a year to have access to events that I can't afford just isn't worth it for me. I enjoy the magazine, but it is not worth the price. D23 is going to have to come up with something wonderful in order for me to renew my membership. World of Color premiere event perhaps :)

Any idea what "Flowers and Fireworks" is? I'll be at WDW then, and I'm a D23 member.

Strange having 2 events the same weekend, as it's a Star Wars weekend as well.

If there was one think that burns my biscuits every time, it's when pricing includes the 1-day park admission. Why?

Because I believe a high percentage of Disney fans willing to join D23 have annual passes. There is no break in the price for the event for people who don't need park admission.

This isn't the first time Disney did this. They included park admission for the Bocuse d'Or event during Food and Wine a couple years ago. I could see how more people might need park admission, but the people who go to F&WF every year generally have it covered.

I just think that's just another short-sighted detail on Disney's part.

Yeah, them adding park tickets to the price for WDW events got us a little saddened as well. Our trips happen to coincide with their F&W and Merriment, but if they make the price high to include park tickets we wont go.
It's a shame; I'd like to get more out of our membership if it works out that way (but we do love the magazines and little extras).

Meh.

Glad they are doing some stuff in WDW but that doesn't tempt me to join.

Being a D23 member I didnt even know that they were going on sale today. Not that I would be able to go. Im closer to WDW, but to go, stay at WDW, flights etc. for one person about 1000.00....

Well at least I get the magazine..

I'll be going to the DL event!

I was hoping to do the WDW event, but was disappointed in the price and the lack of discount for APs. I feel a bit of relief that I missed the registration for this because I was at the vet with a sick cat. I don't have to stress about finding the money for it and I can hopefully see Alice in Wonderland at DTD instead.
