which do you prefer at formal affair? which do you think young teens would prefer?

Depends on the music, but I love hearing a band play. But if you want to have a mix of sounds a band may not be the best choice. Have fun!

A DJ will be able to provide the latest hits and they will sound exactly like the radio versions, which will probably be good for teens.

But there is really nothing like a live band!

There are wonderful bands, but I prefer a DJ because they never take a break. I hate nothing more than to be having a ball on the dance floor only to have to stop because the band needs a break.

Here's what my 17 yo said. If everyone at the party likes the same sort of music, then get a band that plays it. If there is an assortment of people and likes, then get a dj.

I would ask your DD. I think for the most part kids seem to like DJ's. I like a band but I haven't been a teenager for a number of years now

I think for a teenage girl the key word is "cute" DJ. I also agree that the DJ doesn't take breaks like the band does!

We used a DJ for both of our older kids' bar and bat mitzvah. The DJ had a couple of high school students dancers out on the floor to help the kids dance. A good DJ will keep the party moving and you may have a wider variety of music than with a band.

Glow necklesses are great party favors and it is fun watching the kids dance with these around their necks or bodies. We let the DJ pass them out during the party and it was a big hit. My wife found a source that she ordered a decent quanity online.
