D is for 'There's No D in Raglan'

Another great review! I'm so glad I put RR back in our plans after reserving, cancelling and reserving again. I have one quick question. Can you please elaborate on the sauce stuff around the kids' cottage pie? DD and I both loved the cottage pie at the Rose and Crown, before it bit the dust--is the taste similar?

I would call it a beef or veal stock reduction. Good taste, whatever it was.

Regretfully, we haven't gotten to visit R&C yet, so I can't offer a comparison. Maybe someone else on the boards has that info.

I would have raised one eyebrow at Skippy and said, "What? You couldn't get a job managing a log at the Magic Kingdom so they stuck you here?" (If there was a snarky, sarcastic emoticon, I'd be using it here. Instead, I think I'll go with the best one I can find...stir the pot.) :stir:

That's just poor service. Glad your server more than made up for it. :thumbsup2

My first time there was last October, and I got the Four Provinces flight. When I saw the Cream of the Crop pick-your-own flight, I started choosing my selections straight from your picture. :lovestruc

I enjoyed the Paddy's Pork, but I had my eye on that Keen Eye for the Shepard's Pie and the Pie in the Sky my friends were having. I have Food Envy. There are times I regret my choice when I see how good the other people's dishes look. But I thought my dish was tasty enough to dispel the regrets.

And I didn't break the cardinal rule: Get the Ger's Bread and Butter Pudding. It is that fabulous. And for a chocoholic like me to say that, you know it's gotta be good.

Thanks for the review. We have been to RR a few times and have found the service to be a bit slow but we just relaxed and enjoyed our drinks. We love the forkful of scallops. I'm disappointed they changed the soda bread but I think we would dip just about any type of bread in the Guiness dipping sauce - it is delicious!

Thanks for the great review....looking forward to our first night dinner there in December now!!! Especially the sangria! YUM!!!:drinking1

Very entertaining review ! :thumbsup2

We've had dinner there twice, and both times have been seated next to the bar... (Hmm... coincidence, I'm sure.. ;) )

We get a kick out of the 'scallop forest', and the service has been very friendly, if a bit slow, on both occasions.
