Please help,

We're in money crunch mode and our trip is coming up. For the first three days we're staying at Cypress Pointe. I was going to rent a car but... well, may not happen. SO, I want to see how much it will cost to take a taxi to and from the world. Anywhere in the world :P I figure TTC and I can get to anywhere else (eventually).

So that would end up being 5 (or 7) cab rides.

Any real world experience out there? (please!) :listen:

Here is a summary of taxi/transportation costs:

http://cypresspointe.net/Transportation Rates 06-11-06.pdf

If you are going to have 8 cab rides the base cost is at least $64 plus tips and any additional passenger fees to get to Downtown Disney. Double that for any of the parks directly. Of course you can walk (a mile almost exactly) and pick up the free Disney transportation from DD if the weather is nice enough and your group doesn't mind the exercise. There are sidewalks and crosswalks the whole way if you decide to hoof it.

Renting a car will be less than taxi rides for sure.

That'll eat up your savings staying at CP. Might as well stay at a value.

Thanks ya'll. I was afraid of that.

Unfortunately, a rental car is no longer possible. C.P. is already paid for (and nonrefundable).

I may just ditch the C.P. reservation and then get a ASMusic for 267.84 (yep, just priced it.)

Then again, the walk to DTD and transportaion from there would work, only not sure if I could do that. Not the walk, a mile's okay. But the busses are not for offsite guests and I doubt if I could make rope drops.

I'm thinking ditching reservations is the best idea. :(

I GOT them because my mom wanted to join us and did not want to stay in a hotel room and was going to rent a car. *sigh*

Not true. If you hold any Disney ticket - even an expired one - the transportation is for you and free. You just have to get to a stop. Some DVC owners try to make the transportation sound like a big deal as part of the justification for the high cost of that system. But it is in fact free to anyone so there really is no additional value from staying on site or within DVC when it comes to that specific service.

That's true that's true! I totally forgot that. I swear I'm going brain dead from the stress of the vacation barrelling down upon me.

Not sure if I can do rope drop with them though. However, I could taxi to the park and bus to DTD + walk to CP for return trips and cut my cab rides down.

I'm going to contact Enterprise next and see if Orlando Enterprise will let me use my debit card to rent. It's only $130 for the 3 days so that is entirely doable from a monetary stand point. My local Enterprise does so cross your fingers for me as I continue to research :surfweb:

the walk from/to Cypress Pointe to DTD is a good hoof - definately not something recommended after a day at the parks. You have to walk the entire way down through the DTD hotels (Hotel Plaza Blvd) then several blocks down 535 then about a block up to Cypress Pionte.

Also, the transportation at DTD is to the resorts only. You can take the bus to a resort but would need to transfer at the resort to a bus that takes you to the park of your choice.

I say go for the rental car.

The walk from Cypress pointe is very long. It is something that can be done but it would take a while. We took taxis to DTD earlier this month and it was around $6 before tip. If you have Cypress pointe call the taxi for you a towncar shows up and it is a flat $10 charge.

hi,

If using a debit card is your concern, I think National allows debit cards. YOu would need to check out their website or post the questoin on the Transportaton board for more help.

Everything is worked out :-) Thanks for all the great advice! :thumbsup2

Primarily decided on a car rental place to use with my debit card. And am going to use a sep. account from my primary one so that the hold won't be an issue. Spoke with them today and worked out the details.

glad it worked for you!

do you like CP?

I think you might be paying too much for the car rental - go check on the transportation board.

I go a car for a week for $115 at the airport. (less than I paid years ago)

Spicey!

I'm betting I will be paying too much but Enterprise was real good with me on the phone, and I've rented from them before. I have pretty bad credit and most of the debitcard acceptors do a credit check. Enterprise only requires proof that I flew in. It *would* be nice to have the car for longer time, but we're fine using the busses, too. And THIS trip for the first time ---- no stroller!! No "hurry and fold it up before the bus gets her". :thumbsup2
Yea buddy!

This is my first time at Cypress Pointe but I'm sure I'll like it. I'll be in the Grand Villas. I really wanted to try Vistana however the cost at CP was better. You know I stayed at La Quinta on 192 in Feb 2004. I got it for less than 200 for the week on HK.com. now it was a little dirty and I had to go west on 192 before going east due to the center thingy, and the pool wasn't great etc etc... but you know what? It was a heck of a deal AND I was going to disneyworld :-) I'm really not all that picky! heh. But I did want to try one of these two locations. I also had another reason for going condo versus hotel. It's a long drawn out (oh the drama!) story of my mom and wanting her to join us. But I'll try to make it short and sweet :-) I set up the stay as follows:
* Thurs-Sun condo
* Sun - Sat Okw with DDP
1. IF mom decided to join us, she could come for the first part of the trip with no hardship on us. There would be room for her. I wouldn't have to do any justifications or adding on dining plans or any of that.
2. DH wanted Thurs-Sun to be a value onsite so that we could use ME & busses the whole time, but I did #1 instead knowing the extra car rental trouble I'd go through, because now she could decide last minute to join us!
3. Very few ADRs for the first 3 days so I wouldn't have to worry about adding subtracting her. (Good thing is that it's just DH, DD & me and it's fairly easy to switch between 3 & 4. :P)
blah blah blah, I meant to make this short. You know I was right though. In the last 3 days mom's gone back and forth between going and not.

BTW, thanks to you and Marie (I've forgotten her screen name atm -- you know who she is: Queen of Vistana! ;) ) and my request for help ages ago I rented OKW for Sun-Sat. I'm POSITIVE i'll like that :-) If my renty person will ever get back to me.

Can anyone tell me how long it takes to get to the parks with a car from Cypress Pointe.

Thanks

depends upon your route - I would say 10 minutes to Epcot - go through hotel plaza - turn right at DD - then turn left at Disney Vacation way - go to the end of this road - go straight through the light - Epcot is on the right about a mile.
