Back some years ago, Cypress Pointe was spoken of a lot on this board. Has anyone stayed at the Villas in recent months?

Thanks!

Wow. No one? :(

We stayed there 5 years ago in Phase I and had a great stay which is why I went looking on Hotel Kingdom specifically for this property. But a lot can transpire in 5 years and I was looking for people with more recent stays. I did a search, but not much comes up recently for this Cypress Pointe.

Not exactly recently, but we were at the Cypress Pointe Grande Villa resort 51 weeks ago. The exterior of both phases have undergone extensive upgrading over the past couple of years making an already nice resort much nicer. Refurbishment is just beginning, I believe, on the Grande Villa (Phase II) units. The two bedroom unit that we were in last year in Building A was okay but showing wear and tear in places (nothing horrifying though). The units in Phase II are a little bigger than those in Phase I.

Cypress Pointe is a nice resort with very good amenities shared between the two phases. Phase II will be very nice when they complete the work there.

Thanks Dick. We booked a two bedroom unit at VRI Cypress Pointe Grande Villas through Hotel Kingdom. We stayed at Cypress Pointe Villa Phase I back in 2004 which we also got through Hotel Kingdom.

We are only going to be there three nights because we are starting our week off in Clearwater at a work conference with my DH. But the kids remember our previous stay at Cypress Pointe being "SOOO nice" (their words) and so I am hoping that they will not be disappointed this time.

I send alot of clients to Cypress Pointe, both phase 1 and phase 2.
The property overall is a great value, great location, very family friendly and very convenient. Grandevillas units for the most part are okay but they are showing their age just a bit. I've heard renovations will begin by the end of this year on those units but that remains to be seen.

Phase 1 units are very nice as they were redone a few years ago.

I'm curious as to what you paid thru Hotelkingdom, because the rates I've seen on there are higher than I've seen elsewhere.

Definitely our experience 5 years ago. And as I mentioned, it made a great impression on our kids - they have declared it their favorite place at which we have stayed while at Disney - and we have stayed at Ft. W cabins and the values on property, and at HGV-SW, and CP Phase I off property.

Well, we will see what's what. I will be sure to report back here when we return. (We will be there July 16-19.)

Ack! Don't tell me that! :teeth: We paid $114 per night for a two bedroom unit. I found my information from 5 years ago and see that we paid $85 per night there for a 3 bedroom. :scratchin
There is a $20 cancellation charge for HK, but if including that charge, I could get it for cheaper, I would be willing to make the change. Can you recommend other rental avenues?
TIA! :)

I can't imagine that your children will be disappointed. They'll be close to the Phase II pool and the resort mini golf and a short walk to the Phase I Volcano pool, new tennis courts and basketball court. This resort is in a great location and while I don't think that Cypress Harbour is in the group of highest quality timeshare resorts in the area (for me the top resorts are the Disney Vacation Clubs, the Marriotts, the Hilton Grand Vacation Clubs and maybe the Sheraton Vistana Villages resort) Cypress Pointe closely follows in the very next tier of resorts. They've done such a nice job with the shared amenities that, in my opinion, they've taken a resort that offered a really good vacation experience and pushed that up a couple of notches. If your children are used to staying in a hotel (even a Disney resort hotel) they should be wowed by all that extra space in a timeshare resort villa like Cypress Pointe and all of those resort amenities. Almost all of our vacations - Disney and otherwise - over the past dozen or so years have been at timeshare resorts and I think that Cypress Pointe (Phase I or II) provides a very good experience - you should be quite happy with this choice.

Just as an FYI, these "kids" that I am speaking of are currently 19, 17, and 16 - so as you might imagine, their expectations are a little different than "little kids." They are looking for nice surroundings. Since are only going to be there (this time) for three days and all three days are planned for Disney fun, as long as there is comfortable places to sleep, TVs to watch before bed and when they wake up and roomy bathroom areas, we should be good.

Whatever it is, is should be a real step up - at least room wise - from what we will be experiencing earlier that week - all five of us in one room! But we won't be paying ANYTHING for that - it will be on DH's expense report. :)

I can identify with that as some combination, if not all, of our kids - daughters 29, 27 and 17 - join us for our vacations. TVs in the bedrooms and a 52" set in the livingroom with a DVD player. King bed in master bedroom, two twin beds in the second bedroom and a sofabed (I think it's a queen) in the living room. One moderately sized bathroom next to the second bedroom and one fairly large bathroom accessed only from the master bedroom.

Dick, it sounds like your family is like ours. We have two older ones - 28 and 26, and the two younger ones - 19 and 16. The 17 year old who will be with us is a friend.

Our younger two miss having our older two with us on vacation terribly (as do Mom and Dad.) I can't wait until we can work it out to vacation together again sometime, but for right now, it just isn't working. At least I can say that we have bred Disney Lovers. Our 26 year old - who married a Disney Lover - went to Disney last year for her honeymoon and our 28 year old has been there the past two years with her BF - who has become a Disney Lover too. Someday we will all enjoy Disney together again - in a couple of lovely, space-filled off property condos. :)

Right, almost like having two families. When our youngest was born many of our friends graciously told us that it would keep us young (I think that they secretly thought we were crazy). I think that there's some nugget of truth to that - staying young, not being crazy - as she's the biggest Disney/Universal nut amongst us and I'm still trying to keep up with her nearly 18 years later. We are truly blessed to have all of our girls want to spend at least part of their vacations with us and we're enjoying almost every minute of it (well, you know how sisters can be sometimes). But the next Disney vacation, in a couple of weeks, will be just our youngest and me for our fifth annual daughter/dad end of school year Orlando trip.
