Okay I found a deal which I think is pretty good. A 2BR from 9/4/04 through 9/11/04 for 249.00 for the week. This is through AFN. We have not stayed off site before but since this is completely unplanned, therefore "unbudgeted" I was thinking of trying it. I was wondering if anyone had any info? I would hate to talk DH into this and have an awful time. Of course WDW would be wonderful but what about the hotel? Are the rooms nice? Are the pools crowded? Is it mostly families? Is traffic really bad? It's just the three of us and DD is a park commando just like me:crazy: But DH likes a little downtime during vacation (go figure;)) Any info would be great!

There are a lot of threads here about Cypress Point. You can check out hotelkingdom.com to see if the rates are better than what you have already. It is a nice area, shares a "Volcano" pool with Cypress Point, an older area. We enjoyed it, very close to downtown Disney.
There is a play area for the kids, mini-golf, basketball. If we needed to, we would definitely stay there again, especially since we paid $85/night for 2 BR at New Years.
Seriously, use the search feature here and you find a bunch to read about concerning Cypress Point Grand Villas.

Thanks, I didn't think about that until after I posted  but you're right there is a ton of info and it all looks good to me :D now I just have to convince DH!!

This is through AFN

What's AFN? Sounds like you got an awesome price!!! Does that include all taxes and fees and do you have to do a timeshare presentation?

Yep, it's a flat fee of 249.00 for 7 nights. Nope, no timeshare presentation. AFN is Armed Forces Saving Network. I found out about it at www.mousesavers.com it is for Active duty Military.

I haven't heard of the Armed Forces Saving Network...but have heard of the Armed Forces Vacation Club, which sounds like what the OP describes, though it's for active and retired military. We've used them a couple of times...great deals! :D

Not that I need to hype up CPGV anymore, but it really was a very nice place for us to stay. My dad really likes the down time in a vacation too, and I think he might have enjoyed the big screen TV in the room as much as the pools or anything else, lol.

We just got back from the Grand Villas and enjoyed it alot. Our unit was clean and nice and everyone there was nice. I would recommend it especially for that price.

There is another site that is for government employees but I cant remember the website!

I would love to know the website for government employees if anyone knows!!

Thanks so much for that address, Diane V. My husband has been trying to find out some information at work about any travel benefits, and he's not getting much help there. We usually stay onsite, but at these prices, I'll have to reconsider. I'll have to tell him about this new discovery, and maybe he'll go along with another trip to Orlando!

i'm so glad i read this! i'm going to look into this further since DH teaches in a public school and i believe that makes him a government employee. never thought about it like that before--wonder if it's too good to be true!

Hey! Thanks for the link...we are going to check and see if my DH qualifies to participate. He works for a school system...we will see.

Thanks again!
Lisa

I am thinking of going with the Armed Forces Vacation Club myself for our trip in November. I want to stay onsite and currently we have a reservation to do so but I feel this is a really great deal. Does someone have some pictures of the inside of one of these?

If I book this then my husband can get an annual pass so we dont pay for parking. I think if I do this then I can talk him into coming back next year because we will have saved so much money.
