Happy Thanksgiving everyone. Just booked our one night pre disney land /cruise package at the CPGV on Hotelkingdom.com. Seems like a great deal. I was curious if anyone has stayed in the room that we just booked? It is #1062. It is a 3 bedroom suite. I remember looking at an overhead map of the place and can't find it again. Anyone able to give me the thread to check that out?

How did you get a specific room assignment going thru HotelKingdom? I've never known my room until checking in.

When I received our booking info there was a section under hotel. It listed Cypress point Grand Villa's #1062. It was my interpretation that this was the suite #.

I just found my guide of Cypress Pointe. There is no room #1062 listed. The older section starts numbering at 1101 and ends at 8308. The first number is the building number, the second is the floor number. The forth is the unit number on each floor.

The Grand Villa condos start with a letter (A11 through G53). The buildings are lettered A-G, the first number after the letter is the floor number and the last number is the unit number on each floor. When it comes to the final unit number, I think odd numbers face the parking lot and even numbers face the pool/golf areas. In Grand Villas, the two bedroom units are unit "A" and the one bedroom units are the "B" units. So D22A would be in building D, second floor facing the pool, unit 2, "A" two bedroom unit.

I can't imagine what #1062 refers to.

Thanks Bearzabout,
That is interesting. I guess it is a booking number. I looked up that site you mentioned in a previous post. That gives you a good idea about the room layout. I'm really not fussy about where we will be staying just curious about the condition of the rooms. I am imagining that the rooms will be pretty nice in the grand villas because the units are newer. Just curious ,how long do you think it will take to get from the hotel to the airport?Where there any good restaurants within walking distance? Thanks for your help.

We just returned from CPGV having spent Thanksgiving week there. We enjoyed it very much. We would stay here again in a flash.

Although we drove down, I would estimate it to be no more than a 25 minute drive from Orlando International Airport. There were several restaurants within walking distance: Giordano's (which we tried for the very first time after hearing many good reports on the DISboards and we liked it very much), Steak and Shake, Olive Garden and others. Also within walking distance to the Winn Dixie Supermarket and Walgreens. There is also a convenience store/deli on the property.

You'll be glad you're staying at Cypress Pointe. It is very nice.

The unit we stayed in was exceptional in every way. I heard CPGV were trying to get the RCI Gold Crown status back and were getting their inspection in August. Our unit had great new furniture and had the best decorating of any condo I have ever stayed in. We hated to leave after two weeks.

There are so many great restaurants a short drive away. Near Giordanos, there is a rib place (I think Tony Roma's). My favorite is the New York China Buffet next door. They have some great dishes compared to most chinese buffets. For $6.79 at lunch, it is a real bargain. They open at 11:00.

Nearby is the Orlando Ale House. The parking lot was always packed when we drove by. Many of the chains are close by - CiCi's Pizza with their $3.99 buffet, Joe's Crab Shack any many more.

It was so nice to have the Winn Dixie next door.

The condos were only a 5 minute drive from Downtown Disney. I'd go back in a heartbeat.

in the Winn Dixie shopping center there is also a Papa Johns Pizza (take out & delivery) & I think a Chinese food take out as well. I 2nd the NY China Buffet, thought everything we tried was good. Tony Romas is also a good one, check them out for Happy Hour, all appetizers are 1/2 price!!! (hopefully they still are)

Hey Melissa,

A big thank you to you! It was very much because of your Cypress Pointe recommendation back in May that we chose to stay there last week. We were VERY pleased and will definitely stay there again in the future. I love the layout of the Grand Villas (the phase one units were sold out for the time we were going). My favorite thing was having a pantry to put all the groceries in. Usually at a condo/time share unit, you have to move around all the stuff in the cabinets to squeeze in all your food items. This was great. a small pantry with four shelves--everything had a place. The big screen TV was a BIG plus too.

Off topic, I had PM'd you back in September after Hurricane Jeanne hit, just to see if you had made out OK. I know that not everyone checks their PM box regularly. Glad to see you here on the boards.

Hey yourself!!!!
SO glad you enjoyed your stay at CPGV!!!!!! Wasnt it wonderful to have such a large place to come back to especially during hectic Holiday week at the parks!!?!? We absoluetely loved it when we stayed during Easter last year. So relaxing to come 'home' to. I KNEW your boys would love the big screen tv too! I did receive your PM re: the hurricaines but it was weeks & weeks later (I never remember to check those things). We weathered thru the storms absolutely with no problems at all (knock on wood), not even a power or cable outage. We were very very lucky. Hope to run in to y'all again sometime. We let our Universal tickets expire this summer with hopes to save alittle $$ instead of all our trips down to Orlando. Waiting for the next buy a year, get a year free promo, hope they run it again sometime next year! Take care!!

An FYI..Building G is the newest as of right now at CPGV - we stayed there this past summer and it was quite nice

I noticed this thread, and have been thinking of booking this resort. Can someone tell me what the difference is between the "Grande Villas" and "Cypress Pointe". To make a long story short, my cousin and her husband (newlyweds married in October) thought they would join is here in January, and make it a sort of honeymoon. My dd 4 and ds 8 will be with DH and I as well. I can book a 3 bedroom for a pretty resonable price with "Cypress Pointe", but was interested in what the differences are. Should I just look at a 2 bedroom at the Grande Villas instead? Help!!

Sorry, had one more question.....

I have read reviews that pools were a little cool and would be interested to know what other people thought. As we are going in January, this may be a consideration as well.

Thanks again.

I have never stayed here but I think the grand villa's are the newer units. I believe the original units have been refurbished. We booked a 3 bedroom grand villa for our family of 4 and my mother. I think the 3rd bedroom is a stand alone unit but it is small. Can't tell you about the pool temps. I booked ours through hotelkingdom.com. Cheapest rates I have seen. The 3 BR Grandvilla was 135.00 a night and I think you can get the older units for under 100.00. Not bad.

We just returned from cpgv this week. We did swim in the pools. I do not know what the temp. was, but it was a little cooler then the hawthorne seaworld pool. On Thanksgiving day at hawthorn suite sw, the pool was very warm it was great, the pool at cpgv was too cool one day, and a little warmer the next. We loved our stay at cpgv. :cool1: :cool1:

I am also looking at this place for next summer. The most important thing to me is sleeping space. Does anyone know what the beds in the 2nd bedroom are (twin or double)? Are the sofas sleepsofas? What is the big difference except age between the old and new section? For $50 dollars a night difference I can put up with a little older unit if there is enough sleeping space.

Hi - We just returned yesterday from a 2 br at the GV. It was really nice. The beds in the 2nd br are twin. The sofa is a pullout. I'm not sure what the difference is between the GV and the regular ones are. We had to walk past the regular villas when we went to the volcano pool one night. Some of the guests had their shades open and I was trying to check out their digs. I know .... very tacky. Anyway- they looked very similar.
