Cycling in the World

Has anyone ever brought their road bike to Disney? I'm considering it, just for some short rides, so that I don't completely atrophy during my upcoming 9 day stay. I'm also afraid of the guilt I'll feel for eating a few too many mickey heads. And it seems like it would be some interesting riding.

My husband has always wanted to bring his bike to WDW, but we fly from Colorado, so it would be difficult. There are a ton of paths there, so I think riding would be easy. Also, the roads seem to have wide shoulders. I'd say do it, if it's feasible. The other option is running. Again, tons of paths, and, if you get up early, the weather's usually nice. This is what Stephen does. Not quite like a good ride, but better than getting behind on training.

I think bike riding would actually be rather limited. While there are a lot of different paths around, most are actually pretty small and would be difficult to ride a bike on with people on them. As far as the actual roads, my understanding is that they don't want anything other than car/bus traffic on them. I know when I was down a few years ago and running at that time I was told they don't want you running or riding on any roads. In fact I know of a couple of people that were picked up by the "disney police" and brought back to their hotels when running. I've never heard of that occuring to anyone riding, but also have never seen anyone doing it.

Even if you could I'm thinking there actually wouldn't be much to see on a ride, most of the roads you'd just be riding past trees and once you get to a hotel or other spot that does have something there's not really much to see unless your riding through it.
