Gonna try DQ this trip. Really interested in doing cyber space mt. Anyone have any tips on making the best ride? I understand there are three "worlds" to choose from and intensity levels from 1 to 5. I'm sure I'll go for a 5. Any "world" better than others? Any specific track formations to choose for the wildest ride? Thanks

I don't think the backgrounds matter much in how wild your ride is. I know mine, I put as many corkscrews, loops, jumps and drops as possible. You don't find out until after you're done designing what level yours is....and mine ended up only rated a 3!!! I felt pretty sick after too. Those simulated rides give a way different feeling than the real thing.
I was thinking when I walked up to design it, I could just go crazy and do whatever I want, but for each stage, you are given maybe about five or six tracks to choose from, so it makes it impossible to straight loop the whole ride. darn.
Beware when you get on that you are videotaped the whole time and they show it back to you as you sit in your simulator. I was busted rollling my eyes at my boyfriend when he sarcastically remarked beforehand that my coaster would be lame.

Just a word of warning in case you don't know. CSM is only partially a simulation. The pod does actually move a full 360 degrees with every loop and barrel roll on the screen.

I was able to get a card from a CM that had the ultimate ride on it. If you are brave, ask for it, very intense.

I disagree that the backgrounds do not make a difference. The lava area can make you more sick that the space area because of the extra amount of visual information. People who are getting sick because of the motion on the screen will get even more so in the lava area.

To answer the question on the best track piece to choose... try the broken pieces where you do a barrel rool or a full vertical flip between the two pieces of track. Watch the small previews of what each piece does before you choose it. Some do some pretty unusual things.

We are just back and did the cyber spacemountain thing a number of times. My husband is a big rollercoaster person and asked about making the maximum number of loops. There was a difference in the maximum number of loops between the worlds-- I think in "outer space" you could fit in 15 loops, but in "lava" and "ice" worlds (none of these are the correct names-- but its obvious once you're there) you can only get 13 loops. Ask the castmember who admits you to the ride-- they will be able to tell you for sure.

By the way, if you are interested: We bought annual passes to the waterparks and for only $30 more you got a DQ annual pass, so we went for this option as well and were glad we did. We really liked DQ but never really wanted to stay more than 4 or 5 hours, so the annual pass worked out well for us (frequently just spent an hour or 2 there). This may not be an option for you, but is worth considering if you can make the numbers work. The crowds seemed to vary quite a bit, and it was nice to be able to just leave if the waits were too long (for us 15-20 minutes is the longest we'll wait for anything).

Our favorite things were the Pirates of the Carribean, Buzz Lightyears Astroblasters and a videogame which was a simulation of the pod racing in the Star Wars movie. The rollercoaster thing was OK, as was the make-a-CD thing (but this was fraught with technical glitches which was very annoying after spending 10-15 minutes on your creation!). The rest we found only mild amusing, but I think these preferences are very personal and you'd probably find a wide range of responses to DQ amongst different people.

Hey guys! Thanks for the info. Gonna give the space world a try. See if I can get a level 5 out of it!
