As it's been quite some time since I last had to write a CV (13 years, to be precise), I am looking for some guidance on creating a CV.

Are there any useful sites I could look at for pointers, templates, etc or has anyone got a template they wouldn't mind sending me.

Thanks in advance.

Joh

Start with a profile of you stating things like 'motivated', 'reliable', conscientious etc then do the stuff about work experience listing aspects of those positions that will be relevant to the position you are seeking, list qualifications again starting with the most relevant ones and finally list the personal stuff like hobbies, driving licence etc (unless of course the driving licence is relevant to the job) do not use any fancy typefaces, coloured paper or other such 'novelty' and ONLY attach a photo if its relevant

e.g.
1st page - ' Joh is a reliable and conscientious worker who manages to keep herself and others in her team well motivated. Her many different jobs emphasise how easily she finds it to master new skills. Johs customer service levels are extremely high as her following career profile shows'

2nd page - start with most recent job working back - if the fact that you worked as a saturday girl in the local hairdressers for instance is relevant because of the customer service requirements then list it, if not then don't!!
brief your qualifications and enclose copies of any relevant diplomas/certificates etc.
3rd page, personalise don't list more than 4 hobbies but make them interesting, i.e reading - specifically biographies, walking - has taken part in several charity walks etc etc
good luck

If you have Microsoft Works on your computer that has templates for all sorts of things like CV's, letter, invoices etc.

Good luck :flower:

Hi Wilma-bride i have sent you an e-mail with the layout i have used hope it helps

Thank you all for your help. Just one more question. Do you still have to put down two referees? And, if so, can one fo them be a personal referee?

Its usual for one to be personal, one to be professional, unless otherwise stated

I know this is an old post, but I thought this additiion was justified.
Netty, You need no cv writer. Spend the 10 quid on yourself. There are a lot of CV samples and will give you a good idea what is needed.
