I just got off the phone with Verizon Wireless....

The two older DDs were told a few years ago that the end of 2012 was the end of me paying for their phones, so today finished moving their numbers to their own plan. I also dropped minutes in half to 700, and took off a $10 data thing with ringbacks that DD13 had and blocked all that stuff. Anyway...I think it will be about $50 a month saved.

We dropped cable right before Christmas and went internet only. I was already paying for Netflix, saved around $50 bucks a month on that too.

Got around to selling an old conversion van that my DH used occasionally for hauling, otherwise it just sat. Got $700 for it and will save around $185 every six months for the liability insurance, not to mention another $100 a year for personal property taxes and registration.

So examine your budgets, it's the New Year! pixiedust:

We have an older daughter who still lives at home (she just graduated from college, and was living at home while going to college), and we are trying to wean her off of our budget as well. We transferred her car loan over to her, so we don't have that anymore. She was able to refinance it over 5 years so the payment was a little more doable for her that way.

I just got our bill for AAA and she is also on our account. I guess it is time to ask her to reimburse me for that expense....

We still pay for the younger kids' cell phones (both age 22), but they do not have smart phones, and we make that their Christmas present each year. Neither has a job that allows them to pay more than rent/transportation/etc, and they need a phone to stay employed so I don't think we will be moving that out of our budget yet.

My husband reminds me often that our budgetting would be pretty easy if we stopped funding things for our over-20 children--and he is right--so that is our goal for this year.
