Hello  We are doing a Land/Sea package in December. When going through customs do we have to declare what we bought before we boarded the ship? Or is just what we bought while on board and in Nassau and CC? If so is it easier to ship things home before hand? Sorry if it is a dumb question, have only been to Canada on Day trips.......thanks a bunch for your help ::yes:: ::yes::

You are required to declare EVERYTHING that you purchased or were given as a gift on the ship, in your ports of call, and on CC. On your last night onboard you will find in your stateroom a U.S. Customs Declaration Form. Just fill it out and sign and date it then hand it to customs during debarkation. You only have to fill out one form for your entire party. Each guest is allowed a total duty free allowance of $800 for 3-4 night cruises and 7 night western cruise or $1200 7 night eastern cruise. Liquor and tobacco have special limits. One liter of liquor per person over 21 is exempt from duties and one carton of cigarettes and 100 cigars are exempt. Hope this helps and answers your questions.

to be safe, keep your receipts for anything purchased BEFORE the cruise so if you have to you can prove you purchased it in the US before cruising.

Of course, when they asked ME if I had anything to declare, I just stood proudly and said,

"Yes...that I had a WONDERFUL time!!!"

You asked if you also had to declare everything you bought before you boarded the ship. The answer is "no" ... if you bought it in the US (e.g. Disney World) then you don't have to declare it. Just like the things you bought at home before your trip. As KYCruiseCrazy said - just declare what you acquired while on the ship - in ports, as gifts, from the ship stores.

Have a great cruise!!!
