Just had to vent here...........and I am sure it has been brought up before but...............Is anyone else sick and tired of calling numbers for accounts etc that they have and getting someone who cannot speak clear English!! My mother passed away a year ago, I called all of her accounts and closed them, but I still get a bill from one Visa card that was paid off the same month she passed, threatening to put her in a collection agency unless she paid their annual fee.............hello? The account has been closed and no activity since then, I have talked to these people twice and today was the third I finally got so fed up with the operator that I asked to speak to someone who spoke clear english since that is the native language of THIS country! She wanted me to send death certificates etc, which has all been done a year ago.........finally got someone who did speak english and hopefully it is cleared up. I wish there was some way to find out what companies that I deal with outsource their customer service depts overseas because if I knew I would probably close acct to those. I am a firm believer that if you are in this country then you should speak this language, and don't agree that we need to cater to the ones who refuse to learn it!.............Heck if I went to their native countries and wanted to live I would have to learn their language or be out of luck!!!! Sorry, I am just so steamed having to try and understand basic answers to basic questions!
 
I had the same problem when I had to call Dell for help once. I had the hardest time understanding what he was saying. I'm not very computer literate & then trying to figure him out while I was trying to figure out the problem with my computer - was very frustrating!!!
 
When this happens to me, I usually make up some excuse for why I have to go, and then call back to get someone else. Sometimes, it's just luck of the draw with c/s lines.

I used to work in a c/s dept. too. In every c/s dept. there are a few really bad employees who just do not know how to clearly convey info, whether it's because they don't speak the language of their customers or because they are just clueless. They usually don't last very long.

Part of my job entails calling shipping & trucking companies. It amazes me when I call some of these places and get someone who does not even understand basic shipping terminology.
 
Funny this post came up. I was having a problem with my computer. I thought it was an internet problem so I called SBC.(My internet server) The man on the phone could hardly speak english. I made it through the conversation but I didn't understand everything. I hung up thinking it's pretty bad when you can't even get help in your english language. I then remembered alot of these companies out source to other countries. India seems to be where alot of the telephone calls are directed to for computer problems. Once I had a telephone problem so I called the phone company. The lady had a Canadian accent so I asked her if she was Canadian. She said she was answering from Canada but wasen't allowed to say it. America people may get upset about it. I thought isn't it a shame how all our jobs are being outsourced. This issue makes me so upset. I am still not sure how this helps our country. If there are no jobs how is that a good thing. Even if prices are lower because of cheap labor in other countries,if you have no job you won't be buying no matter how cheap the price is.
