Our office decided to order lunch today and have it delivered. A group of us ordered from this well-known Chinese place. The food is usually pretty good, although that seems to be slipping too, but that's not what this thread is about.

So the order arrives and we're going through the bag and setting it all out on the table. We have the right number of containers. We ordered 7 lunch specials and we have 7 lunch specials. But I don't see what I ordered. So everyone is getting theirs and yep, what I ordered isn't there. But there's one left over.

I ordered dumplings, chicken wings, beef teriyaki and lo mein. The "extra" meal, had lo mein (and that's where the similarities end), chicken fingers, boneless spare ribs and crab rangoons.

Now I like crab rangoons, so I did eat those. But I'm not a big fan of the chicken fingers (way too much coating) or the spare ribs (I have this thing about fat on my meats, it makes me ill).

So I call the place and the woman who answers is apparently the same one who took the order. Would you believe she actually yelled at me? She kept saying that the girl who ordered it made the mistake, not them. She had no interest in trying to rectify the problem, but instead kept insisting it was our fault, not hers.

When I called, I made the mistake of telling her what was missing before I had her read the order to me. So when she read the order, she actually only read 6 luncheon specials to me, not 7, yet she wouldn't listen to me when I tried to point that out. She just kept talking over me telling me that she did nothing wrong. I finally just hung up on her, after telling her that I'd never order from them again and ate only the two things that I liked out of the lunch and tossed the rest in the trash.

So frustrating! I can just picture the scene and I would be hot too!

Isn't poor customer service the norm these days? Boy could I tell you some stories about my dealings with Charter Communications over the last two weeks.

Since when am I supposed to be grateful that you will sell me your goods or services and not that the company should be grateful that I want to purchase from them?

It does seem that poor customer service is the norm these days. I really don't understand with all the competition out there why service isn't any better. It's so frustrating!

I bet you will just be mad again in two hours.

Sorry for your frustration. Usually, restaurants really want to keep their clients happy.

Sorry you didn't get what you ordered and got yelled at to boot. :sad2:

As for Chinese food quality slipping - I have a theory.

Everytime a new Chinese food restaurant opens, the food is fantastic - we get hooked and then the food goes downhill.

My theory is this - there's only one good Chinese food chef in the country and he works for the first month a new restaurant is open - and then he moves on to the next new Chinese restaurant leaving the bad cooks behind. Dumb theory, I know - but nothing else can explain why the food quality just goes down and down after they open...

I hope that chef makes it our way soon......I'm really tired of the Chinese food around here. Just blech!

We ordered one night a while ago from a local place. There was a coupon for a Free Chicken fried rice with a $25 purchase. So we purchased the other stuff we wanted and got the free rice. It arrived, we paid, delivery guy left, we put the food in the kitchen for about 10 minutes. When we opened the bags, the free rice wasn't in there, so i called. The lady said ok, do you want me to make a note and next time you order you can get another one? I said um, no, we want the rice tonight. So she (begrudgingly) sent the guy back out.
