Custom outfit craziness, an sept-october report

Hi Everyone! I'm Natalie, and this is my pre trip report! Our cast is as follows....

DH, Mark is 35 and will turn 36 on our trip (the only one in our house who could careless their birthday is in Disney. He's a Union Steamfitter, who is obsessed with the food network....

And last but certinaly not least is DD 8, Aiyana..... She is the busiest kid I know. Goes to 2 differrent Dance Schools (one Dance, one Musical Theater), will be starting 3rd grade, and is a Brownie Girl Scout! She is super excited for this trip.

So our dates are 9/27 through 10/5. We are staying at Port Orleans French Quarter. We stayed there with our first trip in feb of 2011 and loved it. When I called and found out my free dining PIN was inculded there, it was a no brainer to book there again. We have a few fun things planed along the way. MNSSHP, Family Magic Tour, and might do Behind the Seeds and Charachters in Flight.

Also, my DD has worked with me on some outfits. Kind of like the 8 year old version of Disney Bounding..... a little less subtle then normal disney bounding, but not full on costumes. Apparently when you are 8, dressing in a princess costume is lame. and when you just turned 8 at the end of june and are already 4ft 6 inches, princess costumes dont fit that well anyway......

I will include photos of the outfits as I finish them and with my progress of my report!

So in addition to her crazy outfits, I am working on autograph pages and journal pages to add to a scrapbook. I will include those as well! I wont have the autograph pages yet, because I havent worked on that part yet. But I kinda love Powerpoint and used that for her journal.

DD Dances semi competitivly, She did a jazz and lyrical small group and a jazz duo. Her Duo started late in the year, so she will compete that next year as well. Her lyrical small group took 4th over all in both competions that we went. 1st one was 4th over all in the recreational 12 and under catagory, and 2nd competion was 4th over all verses competitive and recreational dancers. I complain on either of those!

Sat Sept 27th

DD has Musical Theater School from 9-1:30. Hopefully she will receive a scholarship this year, so we can't miss...... We might head out a little early, but not before her main classes are over.

We will hopefully ride with a friend who is also Disney crazy who lives in our neighborhood. Dh will finish packing the car, doing some banking and taking the dog to puppy school. Our flight leaves at 3:10. Her school is about 25 min from the airport, so we will prob leave class at noon.

DH will drop us off to get the luggage settled and head to Long term parking.

We will get through security and have lunch in the airport or grab something to eat on the plane. I have budgeted $50 for this, hopefully over budgeted....

I will give DD her journal a few pages at a time.

I will start by saying I barely knew how to post photos on the boards, so thats why this took me a while to start. I dont know how to upload any other kind of files so I really took photos of my computer screen of the powerpoint and am using that. dont laugh ok maybe you can laugh a little

So, after we get settled we will head to MK for a relaxing evening.

The main goal will be to meet Ariel in her Grotto.

DD's outfit will reflect the Little Mermaid in her fins so we want to meet her that way! Last trip we never found her except at the charachter meals where she had her land legs, so this will be fun.

We found a tank last year at justice that is white with a light shimmer and these blue glass beads on the trim. Thats where this outfit started. Then one day looking at the fabric scraps I found 1 yard of fish scale fabric last winter. So She has the tank and we will make the skirt with the scale fabric and a purple ruffle. The best part of this outfit will be the headband. I just looked on ebay to find stuff that inspired me..... and this is what we made. I have to say I am super proud of this one! also, does anyone think we will have a problem with the dinglehopper on the plane..... its less than 4 inches

So, back to park plans

Our 1st ride was Its a Small world on our last trip and I would like to do that again. Touring plans has a crowd level of 5, so I am a little worried about lines.
Our fast pass + will be Meet Ariel, Voyage of the Little Mermaid, and 7 Dwarf mine train if I can get them. Our last trip was right when they closed Mickey's Toontown. Like we could go the 1st few days, but not the last. It was hard telling a 4 year old... "yes honey, I know you rode the Goofy ride 2 days ago, but its closed now"
So were just going to hit as much as New fantasy Land as we can! Check out Wishes, things like that. When we get tired, head back.
Dinner will just be a counter service, not sure where yet, but prob Ponochio Haus... were see...

So We are going to Head to Hollywood Studios on the morning of Sunday the 28th.
Touring plans has this listed at a crowd level of 2.

we will start the day with a fast pass for star tours. this was closed for referb when we were here in 2011, so this was my DH's big request.

We then will have lunch at Sci Fi Dine in at 11:20.

We have free dining, but more desired meals then credits. I think we will pay for this one OOP. It seams the more affordable of the table services we have planed. I have over budgeted $80 for this. I hope its not that much, lol.

Then I am trying to figure out my next Fast passes......

I think Rock n Roller Coaster and Tower of Terror, but rider switch on the tower..... DD8 is a is scared of it.....

Before we head to that part of the park we have to stop in animation courtyard. I would love to take the class and we have some important charachters to meet.

IF there is any charachter that is like DD, its Miss Von Schweetz! and DH is tough like Ralph. those 2 can watch that movie over and over and over.

So, DD's outfit, we got a cute brown skirt, and I found the perfect mint blue fabric to make a tank. I will add the pocket and strings as trim to complete the look. We also found a bunch of cute candy beads to glue to bobby pins, and I am going to look for a thick yarn that can look like her red vine ponytail holder. If dd gets up early enough I will straighten her hair too. We have to do it for dance competitions, so its fun to see her in a different look.

As for me and DH, we will have a family out fit this day....

We have found a few of the Bad Guy Affirmation shirts just have to settle on one....

So Sunday Evening we are doing MNSSHP.

DD dosen't know yet. She is going to be the Queen of Hearts! My mom is making her the simplicity pattern tween costume. Its super cute.

Now we need to dress the non costume wearing dh. I found a good creepy Cheshire cat shirt.

not sure of my halloween party touring plans yet. Prob eat at Cosmic Rays or something else counter service for dinner.

I know there are some charachter musts! DD just watched Nightmare before christmas and hated it.... so good to know i dont have to stand in that line....

As I am an avid DISNEY fan and NYC educator, I love what you are doing to make the trip, something that can be used as an educational experience.
Sometimes, parents ask if it is ok to take out of school to go to DISNEY, of course I say yes.
My DD (171/2) and I will be doing a MOM/DAUGHTER long weekend from 9-25 to 9-29. We are also doing MNSSHP on Friday evening.
We are staying at SARATOGA SPRINGS.
Before this trip, we are heading to the WORLD in 14 days for a week!

Thanks for posting and giving that feedback. It was a really hard choice to take my daughter out of school for this trip. She has had only 1 B since kindergarten, all the rest A's. I also figured they will only be 4 weeks into school at that point, so they will still be reviewing for the most part. And she is doing a summer bridge workbook over the summer to help reinforce and introduce some new, and she has to read 2 chapters or for 30 min, which ever comes first each day. Even if they start multiplication it will be the begining which she is already comfortable with. we will do as much work before we leave and on the plane.
I also have a TO Do list for her, and like in epcot each country has "learn something new about....." and animal kindgom has a lot of education related tasks!
