Hello! So I recently got accepted into the Disney college program which I am psyched about considering that I am a huge Disney fan and they located me as a Custodial Busser. I found only one post or thread on this position, but I was wondering if anyone else has been through this position yet since then. Please please please (that is if you want to) share your experience with me and tell me what it is like to work in this field. The level of difficulty, any good memories, worth the experience.

Also, who else got accepted into this position!!!
:D:):rolleyes::woohoo:

I was a custodial busser in New Orleans Square on my first program at Disneyland in 2010. It's not that bad and you'll hear a lot of horror stories, but I think the job is what you make it. Guest interaction was pretty high when bussing, as you're one of the most accessible people guests see (you're constantly walking around the restaurant). Stewarding was hard, the dish machines range in size but all of them are relatively big (at least in DL) and the steam coming from them is extremely hot. But it was fun sometimes when I could talk and joke with co-workers. Hard job sometimes, especially for me as I am not that tall lol and the dish containers and trash stuff can be gross and heavy, but it was great to be able to be out in the park while bussing. I even got to pin trade with guests!

Thanks for the reply!!! that was very helpful! :]. I guess I should give it a shot. I am looking forward to interacting with guests a lot!!! That's what I wanted. And I hope i can build some friendships with coworkers cause I just moved here. The washing the dishes . . . well lets say i am pretty short too. I guess i will look forward to the interaction. Thankyou for the input!

Your welcome! It wasn't too bad a job. It got gross, but not near as bad as one would think =]

How is custodial busser different from doing restrooms/streets? Are there other custodial jobs out there that I haven't heard of? I am looking at applying for Fall 2012, and I think custodial is my top role choice at the moment, but I had never heard of the busser position!

I am fairly certain that custodial busser is a role at Disneyland and not wdw.

Custodial Busser is only at DLR.

At WDW, if you are custodial, you could be assigned to work a restaurant seating area as part of your overall "area".

It is one of the differences with DLR that is a result of their union. Plus it seems many DLR counter service restaurants use actual plates and silverware as opposed to at WDW where everything is paper/plastic.
