Current thoughts on Donald's Breakfastosaurus?

I have been to CM and Donald's twice and although the food at Chef Mickey is better, I liked Donald's and thought the character interaction was better. And the service was way better. JMO

Our ps is for May 7th, so I'll report when I get home. :flower:

Lucky'sMom - we will also be there for the first time on May 7th. My sister and her husband really enjoyed this breakfast, so I guess I'll just have to wait and see.

My DH and I have PS on June 24th. Do you think this is something a couple with no kids will enjoy? We also have PS for CRT and CP. I'm wondering how much enjoyment we'll get from the character meals since we'll be traveling without any kids and if we will even get character interaction. :sad2:

I have been to WDW several times w/o kids and ALWAYS do character meals - can't help it, I just love 'em!!!!

Yes - I think you will not only enjoy it, but you will definately get characater interaction - especially if you are animated with them. I have been to CRT, CP, PSB and LTT without kids and have enjoyed all. Just go and have fun!!!

pirate: We went in October 2004. It was just OK. The food wasn't bad, but the character's just rushed right through the tables. Mickey flew right by us and didn't even stop. My DW brought it to the CM attention. She rudly answered that they were on a time schedule. That really pissed my DW off. But Mickey did manage to stop by for a quick photo with my DS before going on to the next table.

We'r returning to WDW this October. This time around we are planning to eat at CP for our character breakfast. I read alot of good reviews about CP.

We were just there on 4/16 and though we didn't have a lot of quality time with the characters the food was really good and plentiful and our CM server was fabulous.. I got his name and plan on sending a letter because he went out of his way to be a good server and make the time without the characters fun!!!!!

I was curious if it depends on the time of the day? I heard that after the park opens everyone else sees a character meal and comes to the restaurant. What if you make a PS before the park opens? Do the characters come by regularly before the park opens normally? Is it still very crowded at 8AM or so?

Also, wheN I was on the phone the rep told me that this restaurants was some scientists house they converted into a restaurant?? What's that about?

We were there just before Spring Break. It wasn't bad, it wasn't great. The food was pretty good but my picky daughter only ate one Krispy Kreme. We had seen all of the characters before except Donald so I don't know if I'd say it was worth what it cost for us to eat breakfast. I did feel we were just a bit rushed. We probably won't do this character breakfast again.

Since we did CP last year, we are thinking of doing Donald's this year. I keep hearing everyone talk about Dino Eggs. What are they are? I thought they were probably just a cute name for something really common, but I thought I would ask.

By the way, we loved CP, we just want to try and see some different characters this year.

Hmmmm........... I don't recall anything labeled as "dino eggs", but I do recall that they had some hard-boiled eggs on the "cold table" (where the Krispy Kremes are) :Pinkbounc

I'd be interested too. What are dino-eggs?

Mrs. PB

I believe the dino eggs are like donut holes (munchkins - for those of you w/ Dunkin Donuts nearby) :confused3

Thanks! I thought it might be something like that.

Another question, while at CP last year, they had what I believe may be something like Puffed French Toast. It was like puffed pastry covered with cinnamon and sugar. They are really good. Does anyone know if they have this at Donald's as well?

Thanks for the responses!

We had been doing Donald's on all of our trips for the last 6 years. It had been our favorite character meal and because of our park touring schedule, it was our last. The food was good and initially the characters were really good and it was the one that had Mickey. First they took out the two buffet lines (one in each of the main dining rooms) and went down to the one main line in front of the entrance. That made it hard to get to the food because of the crowds and people trying to get in the door. It also made more room for more tables so more crowdes at the buffet! Then the characters started rushing through the dining rooms to see all of the extra people that were there because of the extra people that were there because there was more room for more tables because the two buffets were gone from the main dining rooms and just the one buffet line in front of the entrance. We complained to the character handler and she looked at us like we were crazy! She said that they have to keep moving to see all of the other people that were there to see the characters within the rotation cycle.

We haven't been back to Donald's since. For us, it's like Donald's became a victim of its own popularity. Now we see Mickey either at the Garden Grill or at Chef Mickey's. We prefer the Garden Grill because it is less hectic and the service is family style instead of a buffet.

I am glad to see things are getting better. Maybe we will try Donald's again on one of our future trips. But for our upcoming June trip, we are doing Chef Mickey's and Crystal Palace for our Character Meals and sit down restaurants for the rest of the in-park meals.

The French Toast when we visited in January was just regular French Toast, not the puffed kind like at CP. The menu on Allearsnet is pretty accurate as far as what we were served, however we didn't have omelets or "western eggs" (just scrambled) and not as many bakery choices as listed. I don't remember seeing grits or oatmeal, either, and there was just one kind of hashbrown, not two as listed. We didn't have "Dino Eggs" either, just regular donuts. We did have a late (11 am) seating, so that could have been why.

We were one of the first seated in March and the offerings sound about like what you are describing, there were no Dino Eggs for sure

By any chance was your server Neil?

I would not go back to this character meal, the characters were so rushed that I'm sure they thought they were characters from the Flash. They moved from room to room so fast that If you were not right on top of them when they came, tough luck. They all came to the table about the same time. they did not interact, they hardly stayed for pictures or autographs boy were we dissaPpointed, in fact when pluto deamed to come tWo MALll children camE to our table Pluto looked at them, moved on and when our server tried to get him back for our children he shrugged on off he went. Mickey passed our table during the Pluto confusion and our server literally pulled back to our table so we got the needed Mickey picture and autograph, but that was it. The best part of our whoLe meal was our server, she was great.
