Current status of Wishes dessert party

Right now we have reservations for a Wishes dessert party in a little under 3 weeks. I know there have been lots of changes, plus rumors of other changes, and I'm trying to get an accurate picture of the current situation. Can someone (preferably someone who went recently) tell me:

1) Are they still taking day-of reservations for dessert at the terrace and then spots in front of the castle?
2) For the advance purchase, do they still have a reserved spot in front of the castle you can choose if you wish (along with the day-of purchases) or do you have to stay on the terrace.
3) On the terrace I understand that some tables are at the rail, and some are not. So, some questions:
3a) Is it still first-come, first-served as far as which table you "grab"? Or, did they go back to the old system where you would get assigned based on your reservation time?
3b) If you do not get a table at the railing, do you still have a clear view of the fireworks? Or, does the terrace block the view for any of these folks?
4) Any changes to the desserts themselves? The website lists character-themed cupcakes and ice cream, but the images/stories I've heard don't talk about those. I'd like a sense of what the actual desserts are.

1. No. (And, during the very brief time that they WERE doing this, it was only for the (former FP+) east viewing area.)
2. Nope.
3a1. Yes.
3a2) No.
3b1) Some do.
3b2) Some are more blocked than others.
4) Don't know.
