Has any of the rooms at the three hotels undergone any recent refurbishments?

Have stayed at the Royal Pacific twice before - 2002 and 2009 - it was great. Last year we stayed at the PBH in October - at that time they placed us in the farthest room at the far end of the hotel - the whole section of that building at that time was covered in scaffolding etc due to work being done - not sure the extent of what the work was.

But considering that it is a "flagship" hotel, have to admit that we were not impressed by the room. Not sure if it was the construction going on and dust etc getting into the ventilation, but we woke up the next morning congested and coughing.

So the question is did any of the rooms at PBH undergo any renovations as a result last year ... what about the RPR or HRH ... when was the last refurbishments if any had been done, as just reading some of the comments here of worn down rooms, etc. We would like to stay on-site at Universal again next year but if the conditions of the rooms have deteriorated, then will look at off-site. Any info would be appreciated ... thanks.

All rooms at PBH got a complete overhaul this year( they only finished up a few months ago). The exterior work is almost done as well. The whole resort got a paint job and refurbs

Thanks ... has anyone stayed in the refurbed rooms - opinions on how they are now compared to what they were before?

Toilet seat in our room at Hard Rock. Don't ask me what it is....I have no idea.

The new rooms seem much brighter now. We had no complaints on the old rooms at all. I will mention the beds are still super comfy. Our last stay we were upgraded to a deluxe room connecting to a pool view room (had 2 garden rooms booked). This time we had 2 connecting garden view rooms, and they didn't feel any smaller than our last stay. My kids and husband said it's their favorite hotel now. Last year, they would have said Royal Pacific :beach:

OP the PBH rooms were undergoing the exterior rehab during our trip last October, it was a mess. The rooms facing the villa pool had scaffolding and they were beginning to apply the beautiful trompe l'oeil painting. Note that the process was further along than our early October trip where they were sand blasting the east and west wing.

Here are pictures of our parlor suite located on the ground floor of the west wing during our visit early June of '14. The décor is now what i'd term modern Italian, I like the old style better, but it's very clean looking and the room was well-kept by housekeeping. Oddly the hall needed swept and wasn't the three days we were there.

say hi to mr Keisha;) in the parlor

the bedroom

no visible changes to either bathroom.

We stayed at HRH a couple of months ago and had no issues at all. Everything in our room was clean and housekeeping did their job exactly how I expected them to.
Last year, we noticed a wall plug that would make a sizzling sound when you plugged anything in. Called housekeeping and in less than an hour, an electrician came and replaced it.
We have had great experiences at both HRH & RPR, and have become very spoiled! (Hope to try out the Minions rooms at POB some day.)

Has anyone stayed in a wheelchair accessible room in PBH. We are staying there in two weeks. Are there any tips as to what I should request/avoid?

Hmm I'm almost positive they renovated some of the rooms (not sure about all) at the Royal pacific a few years ago. Seems like they were doing it during one of my stays, but not positive about that.

Yup, PBH has been renovated twice now...RPR and HRH once.

Thanks for the photo. Doesn't look like it changed much but realized that I did not take photos of the time we stayed there last year as was underwhelmed. I wonder if that is how DW and I got congestion etc last year ... from all the sandblasting.

There's a Minions room ??? Are the beds kid size or adult size twins? Not that I am thinking of sleeping in one of them ... ah who am I kidding ... sleeping with the Minions :hyper:

Were the bathrooms redone during the refurb at all?

We recently stayed in the Deluxe room at HRH, booked it because we wanted to ensure a sofa bed (which wasn't possible with CL) The room overall was pretty reasonable, there are definitely areas which is showing the normal wear and tear. The room was clean. The carpeting in the hallways are showing signs of wear, the guest laundry was available on our floor (2nd floor) which was very convenient. Washroom was clean, the extra sink outside the bath area was a plus, the tub was clean, very little mildew stains; the paint in the corners of the walls were peeling a little, a little bit of rust in some other corners; toilet was in good shape. Bedding was fine, clean; sofa bed was as good as a sofa bed can be.

Overall may be do for a refurb, but acceptable as it for now. Can't whine about the price as you are paying for the park access / being onsite. Self parking costs are a little bit outrageous; I felt it was better for us to Valet for the extra $7. Walk to the parks, very fast, especially if you go through the pool, then to the left instead of following the signs for water taxi. On the way back the first time, we discovered the alternate access to the hotel which made subsequent walks to the park very quick.
