Current special on BCV points from Disney?

Hi all -

We currently own at BCV (bought on the resale market about 18 months ago).

On our trip during food and wine, a guide called and asked if we would be interested in adding on. I was pretty clear we would only be interested in BCV points, so I never really expected a followup phone call. We were planning purchasing additional points later this year from the resale market.

Anyways, the same guide left me a voicemail stating that Disney had BCV resale points and if we bought this month we would get an "extra" years worth of 2010 and 2011 points (which the 2010 seems silly since we have a feb use year). I'm waiting for him to call me back.

He didn't leave any details on the voicemail about price per point, etc. Has anyone else gotten a similar call about BCV or other "sold out resort" points? Or any other current specials?

Thanks in advance!

Sarah

There are no specials for sold-out resorts that I've ever heard of. Getting "extra points" - well if you bought right now and are getting a Feb UY, you would get the 2010 points - they are yours but currently expiring at the end of the month. Sounds more like "timeshare salesperson speak" to me. MS would most likely let you bank them even though its past the banking window, but I imagine you would have to do it before 1/31/2011. So I don't see that as any great deal.

Ah ha! I hadn't even looked at the "extra" points "that way" as part of the current use year. Thanks for pointing that out!

Hmmmm...will wait for the return phone call!

When we bought a contract that had all of its points but was near the end of the use year, our guide was magically able to bank them for us. I'm sure you could get them to do the same.

The guide called back last night. Indeed, the "extra" points are the 2010 points which they would allow us to bank. I did find it fascinating that they have a fair amount of BCV points available which I guess makes sense given how many BCV contracts get ROFR'd.

Even with Disney paying the closing and even with the disney dollars we would earn by using our disney visa to buy direct from Disney and the relative ease compared to buying resale, I don't think we can justify 115$ per point from Disney given that we paid 84$ per point on our current DVC membership points. So back to the resale market for us!

Thanks!

So, Disney is charging $115 per point for "old" resorts ie BCV which "expire" in 2042? I own at BCV and love it but for the same price (not sure the current price of BLT, AKV) wouldn't it be better to get the additional years to 2054?
