Hello,

Thanks in advance for your help! I am just packing for our trip next week (this time next Thursday we will be in the air!!) and I'm not quite sure what to pack. If you are there right now, what are you comfortable wearing? (I know layers are important, but right now I'm not even sure what layers! ie- hat, gloves, winter coat/or fall coat, sweatshirt, sweat pants over capri's, etc). We are traveling with twin 7 year old girls.

Thanks!

Florida winters are weird and this years even weirder cause of El Nino, you have to factor chance of rain too. It's been raining for 2 days, not passing storms either gloomy rain the past 2 days. It's been warm, really cold, sunny and gloomy all the past week. So basically, pack for everything and hope for the best. Hope you have a great trip!

Right now, highs are in the 60's. But it's calling for 80's on Tuesday. Lows in the 40's now. But lows creeping up to the 60's by Tues. Layers are a good idea.

Right now it's warm-ish (low 60s) but it has rained pretty much for 2 days straight. The rain seems to stop tomorrow with more normal temps this weekend (high 60s) and sunny.

Next week the temps start high, in the high 70s and sunny. Then the end of next week they go back down to lows in the 40s and highs in the high 50s/low 60s.

So yeah. Just pack your whole wardrobe!

And be prepared for drastic weather changes in the forecast. Our last trip was in February and we were forecasted low 80s. On the drive down to Orlando, the entire forecast changed and it never got out of the 50s with constant rain.

Sadly, there really is no point in asking what the weather is like from one week to the next in the winter in Florida. I've lived here my whole life and I'm still surprised by the weather every week. It's like weather salad, you can get a little bit of everything in any given week. Now, normally I tell northerners to pack their "summer" clothes plus a pair of jeans and a jacket/sweatshirt, but this year I'd also be prepared for rain and the cooler weather it brings in the winter. It's quite atypical, but we've had so much rain that it's better safe than sorry. I will say that my lawn is happy, though ;) Check the weather the day before you leave (no sooner--seriously, don't bother) and then hope for the best! And have fun either way! At least it isn't snowing!

We are planning on going to Kennedy Space Center next Thur for a launch and spend a couple days and while I ck the weather daily (mostly for the launch) I know it will keep changing. I will pack no more than 2 days before for the clothes- or any winter trip in Fla. We are in S Fla and have seen the same crazy weather as Orlando area. Wide swings in rain, temps, wind...

One thing is the wind and the humidity can make it feel much colder than the actual number. We are planning layers and umbrellas and ponchos, gloves. I do all the toiletries, electronics, cameras...a week or so out and then clothes right before going.

We just got back - arrived on 1/19 and departed on 1/27 - we wore everything from shorts / t shirts / sandals to jeans/ winter coats and gloves - I had to buy DH a winter hat as I had forgotten to pack him one. And we had layered days - starting in shorts and jackets and delayering during the day. Also had a couple of really rainy days where the ponchos were a necessity. I'm lucky - we drive so I did pack just about everything and thus we were basically prepared. Dh's new hat - Boba Fett with mickey ears was quite a hit :-)

Just like everyone above said, yesterday (in west palm) it was about 75 all day, great in my opinion, but when I walked outside this morning 59, ugh. You really never know with FL. Last year, I went in March and it was off and on between 50's and 80's. Pack layers, and winter things because we just had 29 and 30 degree weather here about a week ago, but as I said back to 75 this week, so don't forget your summer gear. Good Luck!

You really need to bring a bit of everything in the winter months in Florida. It's a pain to pack for! The summer is much easier.

Just as jahber stated earlier. Pointless to try and figure out Florida weather, especially in "winter". We just had pretty much 48 hours of rain with mild temps. In the 60's right now. Forecasted to be in the low 80's first of the week. Will that hold up? Your guess is about as good and reliable as the weather people, so it means little to nothing.

As other have already posted ... Layers are always the best idea. Bring a light jacket or a sweatshirt as well, just in case. Rule of thumb with Florida weather. If you don't like it ... Stick around - It'll change tomorrow.
