Current Incentives??

We bought 160 points at AKV in May. At that time it was $8 off per point. The only offer for a gift card was $500 Disney gift card IF we bought at SSR.
In June I got the e-mail from Chase Visa saying $500 Reward Dollars after closing if we bought 160 points and put the down payment on our Disney Visa. I called and they said we could get the Reward Dollars, but it has only been one billing cycle so far so we don't have them yet.

eh?
OK, now I'm confused again.
Could someone list out the current incentive for a 100pt add on?

Thank you!!! :)

As of one month ago incentives for 100 point or more add ons were: $8 off per point and matching developer points, at the time only if you purchased AKV and the developer points were to be used at SSR. That was it nothing with the gift cards or Disney dollars. Hope this helps clear it up.

We added on 100 AKL points yesterday :yay: and we received an $8 per point discount and also 100 developer points to use within 1 year at either SSR/WPC/Disneyland.

Our guide did not mention any other incentives for adding on, but that may have been because we are from the UK, and sometimes we don't get offered the same incentives as US residents.

For existing member add-ons, my Guide emailed the following information:

Yes, add on incentives are usually offered on current properties so AKV is the only one with those right now. Current incentives start at 50 points:

50-99 point add on: $8 off per point credit

100 to 199 points ad on: $8 off per point, matching developer points, and $500 prepaid visa card

200 point add on and up: $8 off per point, matching developer points, and $1000 prepaid visa card

My goodness... a lot of different info out there...

I am in the middle of buying and my guide said you can only get the Disney Visa $500. one time and it states that on the Visa promotion that came to my house. Also he said you would only get the developer points if you bought 160 min points from DVC. Originally I thought I would only buy 100 points then figured out that it is a much better deal to buy 160 points with all the incentives.

I think where the confusion comes into play is because some people are listing incentives being offered to exsiting members (which are slightly different) as well as offers for first-time buyers. :confused3

We just called yesterday - the current promo for new members is as follows -

The minimum purchase is 160 points or $16,640

With your purchase you will get matching developer points - to be used at SSR - so your would get 160 developer points.

Then if I put 500 dollars down - 'Mickey' will give you 1280 dollars towards your purchase price - which is 8 dollars off per point.

Then - and we had to pry this from our guide -If you have a referral name from a current DVC member - you will get a 500 prepaid card and they get something....

This is all that our guide would tell us.....we really had to pry the 500 dollar prepaid card out of him...also - which I didnt know - that they are only selling AKV now - I thought SSR was still available...oh well.

Heres my cash breakdown....
16,640 - 1280 = 15,360 - 500deposit(my money) = 14,860 - 160 del points @10/point(1600)= 13,260 - 500 giftcard = 12,760.

SOOOO - buying direct from Disney is not very far off from Resale........with factoring in the free 160 point vacation(dev points) - plus financing is supposed to be REAL easy from Disney.

Here is our problem....we REALLY do not like Animal Kingdom.........should this matter with the deal Disney is offering right now???

Hope this helps.

So, the required 10% is not required...you have to put down $500 and then you get a credit for the rest???

The 500 of your own money plus the 1280 from Mickey is counted as the 10% - So tecnically yes - 'you' dont have to put up the 10% right now....at least thats how our guide explained it to us.

I was also told that an extra incentive is EITHER A $500 Visa Card if you know a DVC Member OR $500 Disney Reward Dollarsif you were a qualifying Disney Visa Member by beginning of June, 2008!!!!

With the Developers Points of 160 to be used in 1 yr at either SSR, through Interval, or at Disney California, will some prospective buyers still wait for BLT?????????????????????

I would imagine that with the current state of the economy, when BLT is officially offered there will be some nice incentives too!

Wonder how the BLT pool will be?????????

We are in the the process of buying we are on the waitlist for AKV. I want to know if anyone actually recieved the $500. gift card from Disney for having a referral name. I said that someone referred me at the start of the process and wanted to know since we have not signed anything yet if I could get the gift card as well. What do you tink?

That means that there are no more 100 points new contract... CRAP!

What if you're buying more than 100 point contract. Do you still go on the wait list?

We are in the same boat as we don't love AKV!! Don't know whether to buy a resale at one of the beachy resorts or wait for BLT. This is really frustratins as I finally have my hubby wanting to buy and the only thing available with the incentives is the one resort he wouldn't want to stay at. Of course we have never stayed at AKL, so I don't know if we would hate it or not. Just would hate to buy it and then BLT was reasonable and where we would want to stay.

Our Guide said the property we think might be available (wink, wink) will most likely be much higher in price and in maintenance fees and probably more points to stay there, so we should by at AKV and know we could still stay at BLT some times. But I just don't know if anyone but owners will be able to stay there because I would think it would be all booked up. We would most likely like to go in the summer so I am guessing we would be out of luck to get in at a 7 month window. UGH!! Decisions, decisions!!

I am only on the waitlist for AKV because I want points now. I don't want to wait for the opening of the new building in 2009.

Actually Disney has all resorts for sale, they just don't tell you unless you ask. I would bet that BWV, OKW, HH, VB and maybe Wildernes are available. BCV you most likely would need to be on a waitlist.

Also buying resale is a good route to take (I did) and it was easy, esp if you do not need points right away. Remember listed prices are negotiable.
