Sorry if this info is somewhere else but i searched around and couldn't find it. We have friends interested in DVC and was wondering what the current incentives or promotions are. Trying to help them decide if resale or direct is best for them. Thanks for any help you can give.

When I bought AKV last month, incentives were $8 point discount ($96pp), matching developer points and some kind of $500 credit if you put the down payment on a Disney credit card. (I didn't have one, bummer)

Thanks for the info. Are the only ones that new members can buy direct from Disney AK & SSR? I didn't know if new members can buy the sold out ones????

You can buy sold-out resorts but might have to be put on a waiting list for specific use years. However, the incentives do not apply to those resorts.

There is supposed to be a doorway to dreams event in woodfield chicago coming up - with some great incentives.

If you wanted to buy directly from Disney, I'd sign up for this event.

Here's the link:

Feel free to PM me with any q's. I bought direct from disney, and also resale thru TSS.

1. If you are a member, check to see whether you can "refer" them to your DVC guide. Do this before they contact DVC for the first time. You'll get something like $200 if your state allows it (there's a list here somewhere of the "good" states).

2. Every Disney fan should get the Disney VISA. It has no annual fee. Other credit cards typically offer better ongoing rewards, but $500 and 6-months-same-as-cash on a DVC down payment are nice. And they run bonus Disney Dollar specials (like right now), offer early access to Disney Broadway show tickets, early access to "free" Dining Plan offers, etc.

3. I think there may be better incentives (especially on AKV) when the new resort(s) go up for sale. That should be before the end of the year. But of course I don't know this for sure.

Ours was everything listed above, PLUS 160 developer points plus only 500 down and a 1500 credit for the rest of the deposit. If you need a referral or guide please PM me for a referral for this AWESOME deal!

The promotional material I got from Chase Disney Visa says you must purchase 160 points minimum to get the $500. Maybe others got a better offer.

I just purchase 180 pts and received 180 developer points. My guide told me about the 100 point contracts but specifically mention that you could not get developer points on 100 point contracts. I believe everything else is true.

I received a call from my guide, Cathy Leahy, yesterday and current incentives for present members are as follows:
100 point add on at AKV is $8 credit per point + matching Developer points + $500 prepaid VISA card. If you add 200 points: $8 credit per point +matching deveolper points + $1000 pre-paid VISA card.

If you refer someone and they buy 160 points at AKV they get the following:
$8 credit per point + matching developer points + $500 pre-paid Visa. If referral buys 320 points they get $8 credit per point + matching developer points + $1000 pre-paid VISA.

In most states the referring member will get a gift card of $200 for the first referral up to $1000 gift card for the 5th referral in a calendar year.

Cathy did say matching developer points are at limited locations....good at SSR, World Passport & Disneyland Resorts.

If anyone needs a member referral I will be happy to give my name & information so that you can also save.

Do the developer points have to be used at SSR?

I did the 100 point first buy in purchase just last month and you DO NOT get developer points or the $500 Visa gift card or $500 Visa Disney dollars on the Chase account. (I have that as well). Those incentives are only for the 160 point purchase.

However, if it is an add on you do get the matching developer points as long as the add on is over 100 points. For any purchase, new or add on you get the $8 per point off at AKV. Disney dollars only works if you have the Chase card ahead of time (something like a month before I believe), you need to use your code, and it HAS to be for the 160 first time buy.

Hope this helps to clear things us.

So the current incentive for member add on is:

100+ points at AKV
+ matching developer points
+ $500 disney rewards
+ $500 visa gift card

Is that true?
What's the difference between the visa disney rewards and the $500 visa gift card?

The Visa gift card is a gift card that can be used anywhere.
The Chase Disney Reward Dollars are credited into your rewards account and may be transferred to your rewards card, which is mainly good for Disney things. There is a link on the Chase site explaining how you can redeem reward dollars.

You have to put your down payment on your Chase Disney Visa for these offers - just owning the Visa doesn't count. You also need to give your guide the 8 digit Disney Visa member number from your statement or from the e-mail that gave the details of the offer. Then 2-3 billing cycles after your contract has closed you will get the reward dollars credited to your account. I'm still waiting on my Reward Dollars. :rolleyes1

Thank you!!!
I was just wondering because they sound alike.
It is a darn good incentive isn't it? :)
Hopefully your reward dollars come soon!

I don't think you get the $500 Disney Rewards, it needs to be your initial DVC purchase and I can't tell you anything about the $500 Visa gift card that was not an incentive when I bought. So as far as I know the only thing is the $8 off per point and matching developer points for add ons OVER 100 points.

we purchased last week and signed our papers yesterday and there was no $500 Visa gift card - that must be new. Wish we had waited a week more if that is now offered
