Can you find what the current incentives are anywhere on the DVC member website? I would love to know what they are without putting in a call to my guide. When reading all these threads on here, the incentives are slightly different on each thread.

Well, we just talked with our guide last night and here is what she said:

SSR Incentives
$10 off when buying 100 or more points
$500 gift card
And you will receive 2008 points
Maintenance begins this year as usual

Since there are still some Jambo House points left for certain use years, I will give you both incentives. Note: If your use year still has Jambo House points available, you can choose where you want to buy at.

AKV Jambo House Incentives
$8 off when buying 100 or more points
You will receive 2008 AKV points and may use them in 2008.
Maintenance begins this year as usual

AKV Kidani Village Incentives
$8 off when buying 100 or more points
You will not receive AKV 2008 points
You will receive SSR points that equal the amount you purchased for 2008 instead. But these points must be used at SSR or for a trade through II and can not be banked.
You will receive your first AKV points in 2009. They may not be used until Kidani Village opens. (Est. May 2009)
You will pay no dues until May 2009

The one thing that surprised me was that the SSR points for the last incentive had to be used at SSR. She said that you could not switch to another resort even at the 7-month window. But I have never been steered wrong with this guide before.

Can you explain this to me? I have a friend seriously considering this incentive. She's planning on purchasing more SSR points but I think the next trip she's planning is at another DVC resort. She cannot switch if she buys now?

I think the PP's guide meant you cannot switch the use of the "extra, one time only" SSR points that you are getting as an AKV incentive to any other resort except SSR. All your regular points, when you starts getting them in 2009 can be used anywhere at the 7 month mark.

The deal we got at SSR last November included 270 developer points (used at any resort based on availability), 200 SSR points for 2006 on (dec UY) with no dues until 2008 (actually it was probably one month of dues for 2007). Plus we got the $500 rewards for using the visa promotion and $10 off.

We figure the developer points plus the 2006/2007 points without dues are worth
$6700 at $10 per point
Plus the $500.

$18800 was the cost less but it comes out to $58 pp with incentives.

I'd go resale for taking any of the current deals.

yes usually at the end and beginning of the fiscal year,dvc has some good deals going on

That just refers to the 2008 points from SSR if you purchase at Kidani Village at AKV. It has nothing to do with an SSR purchase.

Yep, that's it I believe. June UY here in this example. So falls after May 2009 opening. Therefore 2008 points exist to be banked.

I am glad we finally bit the bullet and purchased as watching and listening to all the incentives really made my head spin! It would be so much easier if they offered the same incentive to everyone and didn't change it so often!!

There is a comment on the member website home page, that says "Find time-sensitive offers at a glance, like an exciting opportunity to receive a complimentary vacation!*Accommodations Only. See offer details." I've given the site more than a glance and I can't find the offer details. I'm wondering if the offer is old and they just never updated their webpage.

Now, I am confused - when we our guide first told us about the offer - it was June UY. After discussing for a couple weeks and deciding to buy we asked for a different UY and got Oct. UY. He said that we would still get the 2008 points and I do see them online. Haven't done anything to bank them yet, but I figured I had until May 09 so it wasn't a rush - maybe I should just do it now.....

Like I said in my post I haven't banked my points yet, but my understand is this: My October 2008 points need to be banked by May 31, 2009 - I then can use them in the next year which would be 2009 until the end of my UY which would be September 30, 2010. This would be my plan. Now, I feel confused....
