I was just wondering what the current incentives are

10 off a point? and 160 extra points if buying SSR?

$10 off per point, but you don't really get "extra" points with it. Basically the 2nd set of points is for 2006 and the use year is December so December 2007 you get another set of points alloted to you. You have to use the 2006 points right away though or bank them as soon as they can be banked or you'll loss them or a percentage of them. For 100% of points banked, it has to be done by May 31st but if you don't have a close date until after that you may be unable to bank. In that case, MS will assist you with banking and still allow you to bank since that option isn't available by the time to cut off is supposed to be. Hope that makes some sense.

We were told this week by a guide at SSR that we would get 320 pts in total. 160 pts @ $94 pp, plus UY Dec 06 -160 points - which you can bank straight away - 100% by 31st May. On top of the purchase price we were to add on this years dues and closing costs.

My DW and I are still working up to buying and are not sure of all the ins and outs. You mentioned "banking" the points from '06. If you "bank" them, when will you be able to use them?

I think in this case if you banked them you would have until the day before your Dec 08 UY starts to use them.

In the example used, with a Dec UY, the banked points could be used for stays between December 1, 2007 and November 30, 2008.

Buy the 160 pts - get 160 yr 2006 with them - bank the 2006 pts and you have 320 pts that retire sometime in 2008

If you're interested -- not a bad deal -- you may find a cheaper price on the ROFR market but starting off with 320 aint bad and its instantly available to you.

I am mulling over a purchase direct from Disney. . . I thought that with an SSR purchase, you'd get the 160 2006 points without paying the 2006 maintenance dues. Does anyone know for sure?

The 2006 dues are prorated from closing. So, if you buy now with a Dec. use year, you'd probably only pay for July-November.

It is correct that the dues for 2006 are prorated after closing. I was told my dues would be due about 40 days from now and that would be prorated. Then they come due again 1-15-07 for the 07 year even though my UY is Dec. All dues are the 15th of Jan by actual year.
