Current cruise directors

I'm wondering if Ashley Long is still on the Dream. Hoping that she or her loved ones were not impacted by the recent tornados as she is from an area that received damage.

I've never quite understood the affinity for certain cruise directors. I think, in 8 sailings, the extent of my personal interactions with any cruise director has been someone saying thank you after I held an elevator for them.

At best, I've found the cruise director (namely their speeches before the shows or their daily PA announcements) to be neutral, and there are some of them that just got annoying quickly. (Those tended to be the ones that ignore the golden rule of performing ... "If you have a microphone, your voice never needs to rise above a normal speaking volume")

While I've never had a cruise "made" by a CD (Christiaan was close...I really did love him), I've had one on Holland America who was really detrimental to my experience. She was so OTT peppy all the time it was clearly fake and just made me remember why I purposely chose a college without sororities.

Ashley was not on the 11/26 Dream Sailing. She might be back aboard by now.

I'm almost positive our cruise director on the Dream for the 01/21-24 cruise was Carly. We met her in the main atrium one night before dinner. Totally was not expecting to meet our cruise director, so it kind of felt like meeting a celebrity.

I can say that I agree with your view until we sailed the WBPC in March 2020. The Wonder was stuck at sea for 10 or 11 days after we left Grand Cayman. Ashley and Mike Gibbons are actually what saved that cruise from being a disaster. Honestly, their morning announcements because ”Must See TV” by the end of the cruise because it was so funny… we were all literally in the same boat and Ashley and Mike made it work. And the entire ship went silent when Captain Henry came on for his twice daily announcements. I swear you could hear a pin drop no matter where you were in the ship. By the end of it, I would bet that most of the passengers considered the Cruise Directors and the crew with whom they had direct contact as friends. I know many of us worried about the crew after we departed the ship. Every last one of them gave everything to keeping us happy and safe and we passengers were very grateful for their efforts. We were big fans of the named and unnamed members of our crew. Capt Henry has the most calming voice in difficult circumstances!

Interestingly, I just got off the Magic a few weeks ago on our first cruise since the WBPC and I had no interest in the identify of the Captain or the Cruise Director at all!

Anyone recently on the Wonder, could you please share who is the CD?
Also, club host?
Thank you.

Carly was also on the Dream for the 2/7/22 and 2/11/22 cruises. She's always out and chatting with guests!

Also, club host?

DCL seems to have done away with this role. In the Magic in January Tisa did many but not all of the adult activities and never introduced herself as the club host. Harlequin did some of the adult activities as also did not introduce himself as club host. Also, unlike the past, they both wore their cruise staff uniform instead of regular clothes.

I did ask Tisa about Jo, and she said she does not think Jo will be returning to DCL.

Thanks for the feedback.
It's so sad that Jo won't come back. I kind of feared it would happen as many people couldn't wait around for cruise lines to come out of their hiatus without receiving a paycheck.
Major loss for DCL. In the past we booked at least 2 cruises because we knew Jo was going to be there. It made the decision to book easier. Club hosts used to make a huge difference in the cruising experience... For us at least.

Can anyone report on the Wonder CD? TIA

Stephen was on the Wonder on our 2/8 sailing. He spoke before the evening shows, but other than that we had no interaction with him. Saw him on deck during fireworks, he only spoke with a few other cast members and didn't make any effort to chat with guests, not sure if he was supposed to be or not. Really just seemed like he was there to watch fireworks.

Thanks for this.
I don't expect CD's to socialize with me or with ppl. In fact being a kind of introvert, I've seldom talked to them.
But it's nice when you see cruise directors all around the ship, informing ppl, briefly talking to them, interacting, etc. It gives the feeling that they're trying to make the experience better for everyone, so you appreciate it even if not in person. I've made sure to thank good CD's on feedback cards.
I loved cruises with Clayton, Ashley, Nataly. Those CD's made the cruise extra special.
Peter, we've had him a couple of times and he was uneventful, even boring to listen, you barely saw him, except on the TV and before shows... I get the feeling that Stephen is the same. That's too bad.

So sad to hear that Jo may have moved on. We really enjoyed her on our last cruise on the Wonder. But understandable that maybe other opportunities have come up for her during the hiatus. She is so talented and funny!
