Just wanted to post to anyone heading to BWV. We are here now and the parking lot is only open to resort guest. It was closed to the public on Sunday when we checked in, but reopenned on Sunday evening -- and it filled quickly. Monday to Wednesday we've not had any issues parking in the self lot. Tuesday night was pretty full when we left to go to the grocery store at8:00PM, but when we returned at 9:15 there were several spots openned. Today is Thursday and we went to the AK this morning. We were surprised when we returned at 1:00PM to see that the guest parking lot was closed to the public again for the weekend (normally this occurs on Fridays). But it's Thursday afternoon and the only folks allowed to come into the back entrance into the guest parking lot are folks holding BOTH a BWV/BWI parking pass AND a current room key card. The valet lots is filled and it's only 4:00PM. We have a standard view and while the grandkids are napping we are sitting on the balconey having our afternoon refreshments, watching the guards turn folks away from one of the lots near the tennis courts, and watching the alligator in the pond. Off to the studios later. Just wanted to let folks coming soon to know the parking situation is not too bad.

Thanks for the update. We'll be there in a month and it will be nice if we actually have a place to park our car.

Glad to hear it. It's Food & Wine Festival time, hopefully it will continue after that's over. I'll find out in early December.

This is normal for Food and Wine time. I wish they did this all the time though. Oh well.

I've never seen an alligator in that pond! I've always loved to watch the ibis, ducks and herons.

Thanks for the update on the parking situation.

Sadly I've not seen any other wild life at the pond, only the gator -- circle of life. We pretty much knew when we saw no ducks or birds after the first few days. (Not seen any rabbits either).

Yes closing the parking lot during F&W has become a regular thing over the past few years, but each year I'm glad to see it continue. However, it does usually begin on Friday, but yesterday it started on Thursday. There are alot of convention folks here, so that may be why also. (just guessing). Off to MK today.

BTW -- my record of never getting any of my room request is still at a 100%. I did the online checkin as it has been good at getting my room requests. But not so for my stay here. I asked for a dedicated room (1 bedroom), and got a lock off. Also, I asked for a room that ends in 123 and didn't get it (I knew this was a slim chance). Also got a old room too. Oh well -- there's always the next stay.

Dedicated or Lockoff is actually reserved when you book, it's not a request. I tried to request Dedicated one time when I called at 11 months and was told I already had a Dedicated reserved. X123 is a dedicated 1 bedroom.

There's a gator that has lived in the pond at BCV for years. I can post a picture of it when I get home.

We were at the BWV's last night (Thurs 10/22) and had no problem parking. It was around 6:00, and when we got to the gate, I told the guard we were coming over for dinner (we did have room key and parking pass for AKV) and he let us through. There were a lot of spots open when we got there.

Not sure what the common practice is, but with ESPN and all the restaurants on the Boardwalk - why would they not allow you to park there?

Anyway - just wanted to let people know that we had no problem at the gate.

It's not that they shouldn't allow you to park there, they just need to make sure parking for hotel guests is a priority. I think if you have a parking pass from another resort, they should allow you in. It's the people from offsite who are using it to get away with not paying for parking at Epcot or DHS that should be sent across the street if the lot is busy.

Here's a picture of the BCV alligator. Interesting that it doesn't bother the turtles.

Sorry, I just don't get why Disney officials would not have this gator sent to the everglades?? Doesn't it pose a problem, could possibly endanger a guest? Am I the only one alarmed by this???? :confused3

Alarmed no, gators are common at Disney World, we see one every trip. They relocate them to their property that is not developed when they become a certain size, don't feed it or get near it, and it will leave you alone.

I would be more concerned about the venomous snakes in the landscaping, don't stray off the walkways.

Like I said, it has been in the BCV pond for years. The fact that it is not bothering the turtles leads me to think they are feeding it and taking care of it. Or maybe it is animatronic and escaped from the Jungle Cruise??? :rotfl:

I'm glad to hear BWV is doing something about the parking situation. I hope this solution is permanent. I had major issues finding parking in August (pre-free dining), so I hope this is something that lasts beyond F&WF.

The gator in the canal at BCV is not the same one. Several have come and gone. It is against the law in Florida to feed the gators, so no Disney is not feeding it, and hopefully none of the guests are either.
